Well there you are 1950. Caveat emptor has a gravitas* that "buyer beware" cannot hope to replicate! * "Gravitas was one of the ancient Roman virtues that denoted "seriousness". It is also translated variously as weight, dignity, and importance and connotes restraint and moral rigor. It also conveys a sense of responsibility and commitment to the task." (Wikipedia) Bring back Latin, I say
Wow, I wish I had not mentioned my knowledge of the origin of sinister now, which is something I have picked up in the course of too many years of life. I learnt German at Wymondham College in the 1950's (late) but they did not teach Latin.
We used to walk into Attleborough on a Saturday or Sunday, alternating with the girls. In 1959 we would crowd round shop doorways trying to hear the famous football news. All shops seemed to have a radio on following the news of the matches.
In 1959 I was celebrating my 9th season of attending Carrow Road with the famous Cup Run when I saw every game home and away. Very happy memories except crying all the way home when Luton beat us. As for Latin - sorry Robbie but I really do have to disagree. It might be the Mother of modern languages but to me it was boredom with a capital B. The only thing I can remember from my schooldays that matched Latin for boredom was a Dickens book I had to study for GCE English Literature titled Hard Times - if ever a book was appropriately named!! It was even more boring than the first chapter of War And Peace. I do have many happy memories of school - whatever happened to Louise Scott?
It would be a pain for us and a disaster for him. Stoke are a joke Club with an average squad but their Board seem to think that their side should be top of the league and if a new Coach hasn't achieved that in 20 games he is sacked. They lost on Saturday but had won the previous 2. What a joke!!. Any Coach who goes there needs to immediately research his next job for 6 months time.
Can't imagine our Spanish speakers, Sainz, Córdoba and Núñez, being very pleased hearing that news. Do we have any other Spanish speakers on the staff?
How could I have forgotten Onel? He's comfortable with English though, whereas Núñez, for example, appears much less so. The other two I don't know about. But Pelach would have been able to get detail across in a way no longer possible if he leaves. And then there's Crnac; how good is his English? To me he seems ill at ease; is anyone in the squad befriending him?
Since one of them is probably a bit of Bulgarian, I guess he may be able to chat with Ante Crnac since, like Bulgarian, Croatian is a South Slavic tongue, though Western rather than Eastern.
....... unless Ante happens to be familiar with the Torlakian dialect ........ I asked Perplexity AI whether we were going to beat Watford on Saturday. It ummed and erred before snootily telling me the match would be decided on the pitch
Pelach, Clements and an analyst confirmed to have left for Stoke then. I’ve not seen any rumours for our new recruits although I did hear a suggestion of one Michael Essien as he has worked with Thorup previously. Huddersfield has been our typical hunting ground for coaches recently, I spoke to a mate who’s a Huddersfield fan and he suggested Martin Paterson is highly rated?
The PinkUn reporting that Declan Rudd will take interim charge of the goalkeeping department, he has been the academy goalkeeping coach
