I think he should have used the power of sarcasm.

Cops - What did you make the clock for?
Kid - Duh! A bomb of course.
    Cops - What?
Kid - Well I am an Arab, what else do I need a clock for? Flight times?

What I don't understand is he first showed it to his engineering teacher who said "cool but don't show that to other teachers" the alarm went off later and that's when another teacher and principal freaked and called the police.

At this point could the engineering teacher not have wandered in and said "dudes its a clock..relax!"????

Taught him a valuable lesson that.

If he'd have been 10 years older with a beard and was wandering round with a clock in a bag they'd take the dude down brah.

Potentially life saving education at play there.

    Well done to all.

At that point everyone present should facepalm. No need for further discussion.

Personally, I think the police were in the right.

Used as a projectile weapon a clock can cause severe bruising. Clearly the boy built a weapon as defined by our time.

To be fair to America this was Texas after all, where white kids can have guns but arab kids can't make clocks

What if your plan was to generate a media #outrage by building a blatantly bomb-shaped clock, get yourself invited to the White House to show off your bomb-shaped clock which is now a bomb?

Are the secret service going to screen his clock? In which case what's the point of this PR campaign?

Texas IS the worst state in the union. Both officially an unofficially. Ok maybe there is no "official" worst but if there were it would be Texas.

    #texist

I've met maybe two dozen Texans. Of them maybe two were decent people. The rest would rank as amongst the most unlikeable people I've known.

Not just Texans, I think the gov\state hire scumbags on purpose because they are willing to do anything to you for a buck.

400 TSA agents have been fired for stealing items from people's luggage <laugh> I won't be passing through US borders any time soon with anything valuable. FFS you expect that to happen somewhere mad, not expect that US borrder control are cleptomaniacs <laugh>

One TSA guy was caught when a stolen iPad was tracked to his home <doh>

And anyone willing to pat down children for a buck.. should not be allowed anywhere near kids. Who wants to pat down a 5 year old girl?, a vocation for ****s

I lived and worked in TX and met lots of good sound people, theres about 26 million Texans and because you've met a 22 bad ones doesn't mean they're all as bad.<laugh>

Theres good and bad everywhere, its just that Texas has more of both sorts than the other 49 states.
