hearing over n over about the 9 years is just pathetic really - its why i always hate these so called top clubs , the media seem to cry for their lack of silverware if 3yr pass .

their fans no nothing about supporting a team through thick and thin
know nothing about hope , dreams and despair

just pathetic hand wringing self pity and that their existence is more important than any others .

None of its the players faults , its down to the media as it all makes an easy narrative any YTS can mould .

I suspect every City fan is proud of the team , management and performance ,
when most of these Arsenal fans will be feeling nothing but relieved
and no doubt still moaning about needing new , more expensive players .

Me and my party of friends went for the weekend and stayed around Cricklewood. Every bar we went in said they were fed up to the back teeth of "gay gooners" saying they were going to do this and that! Well, just gotta say I have never been more proud of anyone representing the black and amber nation, managers, players, and fans alike! As for the 15 odd rows of "gay gooners" sat behind our party in the Hull city AFC end! Absolutely fuming. I thought Spurs fans had no class but these clowns have taken it to whole new level. Even trying to make it back to our hotel on the tube, total lack of respect that they had been given a real game. Hold your heads up high Tiger Nation, I for one, is absolutely bursting with pride! UTT!

Agree with the diving and cheating. Met loads of people yesterday, even Linton Brown on Wembley Way (I was only the 4th person to recognise him up to then !) Point being every person I met, mostly fans of other clubs took the time to come up to me, shake my hand and wish us well. After the game it was all 'Well played lads, and a few you were robbed'
The reaction and showboating from some gobby gunners on the tube could have got out of hand. They tried to hem us into a carriage, ten at one end, many more at the other. Three of us with three women. Banter at first then the piss taking, 'Your just a small town near Wigan ? and two nil up and you ****ed it up etc'
They know Hull people are no push overs. Like our team.

This is how football is now, which is why I'm more detached from it than I used to be, it's more a passing interest than an obsession. That and the fact it's a virtually tackle free game now, which just favours those who have the billions anyway.

The sight of more than 25,000 Hull fans, turning huge swathes of Wembley into a rippling blanket of amber and black, sent out a powerful message to any potential signings tuning in. The pictures of Bruce urging his players on, of Hull rattling Arsenal for so long, created an enticing advertisement for the club. “I hope so,’’ said Bruce. “That’s always the challenge. We landed two or three really big ones last summer, Huddlestone and Jake Livermore, and we’ve got to try and secure Jake, if we can. We’re spending a lot on the academy and its job is to produce some young players. But that’s for the future. I’ll probably get the sack when it’s all in place!”

From a great piece by Henry Winter...

Steve Bruce said Hull was a little small town before kickoff on ITV so he kind of perpetuates the myth unfortunately.

Arsenal's not even a place. It's just a bus stop in Tottenham isn't it?

The majority of the 9 years talk wasn't coming from Arsenal fans...

No it's south of Tottenham next to Holloway Road. If the club was named after were it is now they would be called Islington, which is the borough it's in. Or they could just be called Holloway after the road it's near.

I suspect there was more than a hint of desperation concerning the importance to Arsenal of winning something after a nine year gap. Their squad clearly isn't strong enough to sustain a realistic challenge in the league and they must see that Chelsea and Man City are starting to pull away from them. Clearly, when the top players are considering their options they will tend to favour the better resourced teams and there is a danger that teams like Arsenal might slip further down the pecking order.
I would be concerned that players like Ozil have faded dramatically after a brilliant start - a huge amount invested in a player who has looked distinctly average in the second half of the season and who carries no guarantee of regaining form for next year. Winning the cup at least gives them a flicker of hope that they may have turned a corner but, as Henry Winter suggests in the excellent article cited above, their performance revealed significant weaknesses (particularly in defence) that will be very difficult to resolve.
Arsenal have produced some magnificent teams over the years and they measure success and failure against different benchmarks from teams like ours but, at the moment, I'm sure we're feeling that we have more grounds for optimism.

Nah - it was originally a works team called Woolwich Arsenal but the owners thought that they needed a shorter, snappier name to raise their profile.

Sam Wallace was the only one who mentioned us and gave us good praise. The other 2 are rubbish anyway.
I would not worry about it as most of the hacks have given us great praise for our efforts.

Lee Probert did not have a great game either. No way was it a free kick for the Gazorla goal and as for the corner for the equaliser ? A goal kick everyday of the week. Even the biased TV showed that to be the case.

It will be another 9 plus years before Arsenal win another trophy with that team. They are light years behind Man City - Liverpool and Chelsea who will get stronger this summer. If Van Gaal gets Man Utd back up and running then Arsenal will have to make do with 5 place or worse.

The worst player on the pitch by far.

Not sure why there's so much bitter on this board since the final, it wasn't there before
