The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is remembering the signing of the Armistice from the Great War (WW1). Rememberance Sunday involves those who have fallen in all conflicts for our freedom including WW1, WW2, Falklands and other untold battles. That is why, in my opinion, everyone should respect rememberance day, irrespective of age, be they old or young as it’s not just about WW2 but also more recent conflicts.
Very much this, there appears to be a danger that those lost and injured in more recent conflicts are getting forgotten. Not by those affected of course but in general.
Just what were people like this made of? I can't begin to imagine what it must have been like, but I'm pretty certain I wouldn't have had what it takes. Well worth a read of some of the other bits about her, but you have to ignore a few snide remarks I'm afraid.
If you'd been alive then and she now, you might well have had what it takes and she might well be saying ooh how could they do that.
Glad to say this incredible young woman has a statue in London . I’m sure there was a drama series about her years ago played by Barbara Hershey.
Nancy Wake is another lady well worth finding clips and articles about. I'm just grateful people like these existed.
There was going to be a series made about her life, called Code Name Hélène (based on the book of the same name), but as far as I can see it hasn't been released yet.
Incredible lady. Thought provoking that we can walk the streets with no idea of the deeds of people around us.
