OK . Well , don't take this the wrong way , i'm really not fussed about all that . There seem to be some real internal battles on here , I am not fussed . Some people I would like to meet , others no way . It's just silly at times .
I'm not knocking it fella. There was uproar when they enforced id at our place. Especially as non ST holders could buy promotional tickets and pass them on. Not sure what the answer is to empty tourist seats tbph. I know at Madrid you can buy a ticket at face value on match day outside the ground, from a family ST holder if a family member is not attending, the seat naturally would be with the family members that are going.
Was it you who posted about tickets for a Gillingham game , where ST holders paid MORE that late purchasers , ? Or something like that ?
Yes he's an utter twat. Born a Sunderland fans. his family are Sunderland fans, he went to Sunderland games. Then changed to those black and white ****s, even though he lives nowhere near ****ing newcastle. Like i said, the bloke is a despicable ****. Spends his time slagging off Sunderland, even though his family are Sunderland fans. Isn't that right @Albert's Chip Shop you despicable ****?
I became friendly with a big extended family from Sunderland, when on holiday in Crete a few years ago. All Sunderland fans to the core, every one of em, and the hatred they had for Newcastle was intense. I was surprised by how much animosity they had towards NUFC - and I thought Saints/Pompey was bad. I wonder if that was his family?
Yes, STHolders are pretty pissed off at the moment. They bought into a 2 season deal, regardless of League, yet non ST could buy 4 tickets for 2 games for a total of £20!!!! Then there were more offers. If you consider a STH pays about £16 per game, so it's cost £64 for the same games! They also took away their free vouchers. I get we have to have promotions but a fiver a game was taking the piss a bit out of STH's. Ps. And you could choose any available seat in the ground.
I go once or twice a season with someones season ticket, I take one of my lads with me cannot afford to take both or to go more often. I started watching Liverpool in the 80's as a lot of my mates supported them, my family are not into football so I didn't have a family member pushing me one way or the other. My kids don't have a choice and all 3 support Liverpool. I have Sky and go out to the pub when we're on BT.
Didn't Charlton once run a free bus service from Gillingham to The Valley, when they were in the PL? And get a lot of grief from Gills fans for trying to lure your supporters away?
Yes, but the trouble started because they fooking turned up outside the ground with leaflets! They run the Redwing coaches from across Kent from the Coast and through Medway. To be fair it was a bloody good deal and the cost of the package was about the same as a standalone Gills ST. As you can imagine it kicked off a bit and has turned nasty a few times.
That’s piss poor tbh. The notional cost per game for my seats is £50 a match (the entire stand is STH’s now though) so if you attend more than 11 of the 19 games you’re getting value for the ST, as the cost is £565. I appreciate that ours are amongst the cheapest in the PL like, but Gillingham have basically punished their STH’s for their loyalty by doing that, which is never right and they should have found a way of making up the difference to those supporters, whether that was some free additional tickets or free travel to an away or whatever.
I think the two season deal and the fiver a ticket came about because we were probably desperate for cash. The catering company Centreplate try to screw us over, so we rightly took them to court. Hence we needed the money to fight the legal battle, which we won. Not sure if the fookers have paid up yet, but it left us short of cash for players imho.
Based on the first season of the ST they probably only broke even IF they attended every game. The benefit will only come next season if there is no more stupid offers. It has to be a minimum of £10 per person, you can't go giving tickets away at a fiver. We never have a good cup run, so the ST don't even benefit right to cup tickets. It might help next season with the visit of Sunderland, because our ground only holds about 10.5k within H&S regs.
Teams like Sunderland always have a good away support, so it will help a little bit to some of the clubs. Not a lot, but a little bit.
Not sure how many you take away - but if you get 3k in tickets your be lucky. They will have to situate you in the open BMS which is nothing more than scaffolding. They might even reduce it to 2.5k for safety purposes.
1. What team do you support? Manchester United 2. Are you a season ticket holder/how much did it cost? Yes, but at Swansea City, not United. Cost me £450 and £90 each for my two sons. 3. Do you actually go to games or watch only via TV? I go to games. Still go four or five times a season to watch United. 4. If a non season ticket holder, how many home games have you attended this season? Four so far at United. 5. Cost of a match day ticket when you do attend and is that the cheapest available for adults? See above Swans, tend to get freebies for OT. 6. Rough cost overall that you pay for match day entertainment (ticket, food, drink, transport)? £2.00 for two bags of sweets on way to game, £5 for two pre match Fanta, £3.00 for a programme, £4.00 for a half time bottle of Stowford (sometimes I treat myself to a £7.50 pie and a pint 'deal') £2.50 for half time portion of chips, which is usually a 20 minute queue so I always miss either end of first half or start of second, they are hopeless ****s. 7.
