I think De Jong needs a bit more time but am also worried that he is one of these players who can turn it on in the Dutch League but PL is a bit too physical and fast-paced for him. Trouble is if he keeps getting injured he is never going to get himself up to pace. Unfortunately we are not in a psoition where we can give him time to settle in properly either.
I still think Perez has a lot to learn. From what I have seen over the past few games he is developing a tendency to try and do too much on his own when he has the ball. He comes into his own when we are playing against the better teams as his work rate is excellent.
Both De Jong and Thauvin are players that we should we be looking to give game time to when we are winning comfortably - trouble is I cant see there being many opportunities of this type at least until we get our defence sorted out.

Sorry - think that last post was on the wrong thread! I also think we should bring Armstrong back in January as well. Would rather see him playing than Cisse.

I'd still rather give him the rest of this season on loan. Coventry, or possibly move him on to a championship club as it looks like he'll be good enough there too. It is tempting to bring him back to help us out but I still think there'll be more benefit to him getting a full seasons first team football (especially when scoring for fun like he has been).

Keep him where he is. Probably happy there and doing his confidence good. No point in upsetting things moving him onto the unknown for half a season.

Perez is quality. We need to keep him but he ends up playing too deep. He needs to stay close to Mitro. His touch is great. Should be there running in behind and feeding off the second ball. This is all because currently we are playing only with centre mids that sh*t themselves when they cross the half way line so he is dropping deep to take the ball off them all the time.

Armstrong will always struggle when he tries his hand at playing in the Premier League because of his size. He's not a no 10 as far as I can tell; more of a no 9 playing on the last defender and I think unless he has blistering pace (which I'm not sure he has) he will find himself outmuscled more often than not in the EPL. I hope I'm wrong about that though. Progression-wise he's done well but I think we should certainly be looking to loan him out to a Championship team for the second half of the season and see if he can consistently score goals in that division. He's proved he can do it in League 1 and he should only go back to Coventry if he can't get a Championship gig IMHO. What Newcastle need right now is proven top flight players, not rolling the dice on a youth player and hoping he can get us the goals. It's just too big a gamble to bring him in and hope he scores (if he plays) when we are fighting for Premier League survival.

My mate's nephew is in the Coventry City squad and recently made his first appearance for them (coming on as sub). He's since picked up an injury that will keep him out for months. Balls.
