What has the Pope got to do with Football? What has Religion got to do with Football? I, as an outsider, can't understand the hatred between Catholics and Protestants. The major difference to me is one religion recognises the Pope, the other doesn't. One allows women as priests the other doesn't. Isn't Religion based on love tolerance and forgiveness?
Like Racism it is an irrational hatred. But instead of hating somebody because of the colour of their skin, it is hatred because they are Protestant or Catholic.

Because if fans supported their local teams you'd have more of a level playing field. I can't identify with anyone who supports a team from far away purely on religious grounds.

Prods don't have priests, female or otherwise. What has shagging fish(the southampton v portsmouth debate) got to do with football?
Why do you assume it is on religious grounds? People support a team generally because their dad supported it. I have a mate from Bedford who supports Burnley. Thousands of people from Ireland support Liverpool and Man U. I support Rangers because my great grandfather was doctor of Rangers. You don't really know what you are talking about and are on the verge of being racist.

Nope, I grew up in the south west of Scotland, so I do know what I am talking about. I am a racist if Rangers fans and Celtic fans both contain a fair mix of Protestants and Catholics, but I went to Rangers and Celtic games regularly, and experienced to vitriolic sectarianism, so I don't think I am. I also saw bus loads of fans leaving Kilmarnock every Saturday morning to support the Old Firm. You said yourself you didn't mind being called an orange bastard, and people were too easily offended, which kind of supports what I'm saying.

    Who is FHB?
I know you are from Kilmarnock, we spoke about it before. Ok, I maybe didn't explain my point very well. Bus loads of fans would leave Kilmarnock to watch Rangers and Celtic the same as bus loads leave from London to watch man u and liverpool. Who cares what the reason is?

So why do you as a Protestant hate Catholics? Simple question. You have sidetracked the argument by your comment about Priests and Ministers. As I have said Religion is supposed to be about love, turning the other cheek, forgiveness. The only thing to hate is hatred itself. Were you taught to hate from a young age?

Your attack on FHB saying he is on the verge of Racist is out of order and he deserves an apology. FHB is a decent man and without malice.

Live, love and be happy. Love don't hate.

The end result is a League dominated by two teams. Glasgow will always have two big teams, but Scottish football was much healthier when attendances were not skewed so much towards them, and that would not be the case if fans supported their local team. Not saying there aren't other reasons why Scottish football has gone down the plughole, boys used to play football all the time and they don't now, but a competitive league would be much healthier than what we've got now.

I get your point, but your point could be put to most league in the world. The English Premier is a 2 horse race, in fact, I would say more of a 1 horse race, even Liverpool won't **** it up this time. The German, French and Italian are the same. In my opinion, the Spanish league is probably the most open and even at that, it is only the odd year you have 3 going for the title. For what it is worth, I think the Championship has some huge teams, historically and is very competitive. Not that most on here will get what I'm saying, they would rather slag me and Rangers off, as they think I'm having a go at Charlton, which I'm not.

Religion is laughable mumbo jumbo :emoticon-0148-yes:

Superstitious witchcraft, generally followed by folk who need a crutch in life.

It's the creation of elite football for a global TV audience. It's such a money spinner. When I was in Morocco kids wore Arsenal shirts because they had a Morocco player, and it was either that or Barcelona. When Cloughie said that live TV would ruin football he had a point. You're right about the Championship, it's terrific, more exciting than the Premier League. And I preferred the old European Cup and Cup-winners cup, never watch any of the so-called Champions League stuff, money spinner or not.

I find religion quite interesting, although tbf we do live in a secular society. Nothing wrong with needing a crutch in life. Life is a bitch, and then you die.

My Mother is very Catholic. She goes to Church three to five times a week. It gives her a lot of comfort. I on the either hand deplore religion. The amount of killings through the ages, done in the name of Religion disgusts me. John Cleese said once that extremes are bad whether they are right, left,Catholic, Protestant's, Muslims. It stops people thinking for themselves, blindly following what the scriptures/ Koran says.
I was taught by Nuns when I was in junior School and they were the most brutal people I have come across.
It amazes me that so many people can believe in God, yet there is no sign that a God exists.

And yet we keep looking for the answer to the mysteries of life. It's commonsense not to trust anyone who claims to have all the answers, and yet false prophets have never been more popular.

Even if you are correct, you can't say it is that. You can't prove **** all, in the same way nobody can prove the big bang theory. I'm really not sure why it is so fashionable to not believe in God or whatever. For the record, I'm neutral in this.

The golden rule, don't start talking about religion, kept Kilmarnock pubs friendly. It's personal.

I don’t believe there is an after life, religious artifacts, a Bible, Jesus and Mary, and a bloke with a beard up in the clouds controlling everyone’s destiny. It’s a load of cobblers.

Through out history there have been simpletons (Christians, etc) and conmen and bluffers (whoever had the imagination to write the bible)

100BC was no different to 2019 in that respect.

All religion is also absolutely steeped in hypocrisy-

from all of the closet homosexuals in the Church of England to the *****philes in the Vatican & Catholic Church to Islam - the religion of peace that is so intolerant of everyone & everything.

The planet would be a far, far better and safer place without this hocus pocus.
