Yes, the Agent and the player get bungs in the situation when the player is out of contract... the same thing probably happened when we signed Lyle Taylor.
I doubt we offered the most, although people on here will disagree. What might have made a difference is we only had to pay a nominal development fee, an English team would have had to pay more, but not as if teams in England are skint. I think he choose Rangers for a few reasons, among them money, the manager, playing in front of 50,000 people, old firms games and European football.
The agent advised him to go to Rangers. The agent and Aribo got the most money out of the deal. Nice signing on fee and a big salary.
With Joe Aribo certain word come out of his mouth which suggest he is loyal to the Club he plays for but all he is interested in ... is in fact the MONEY... however, Rangers have him on a five year contract but I am sure his Agency could get him out of that for the right offer.
Marcus Gayle also advised him to go to Rangers, did Gayle get a bit of money too? You lot are speaking as if Rangers are loaded. Any player can get out of their contract, I'm not sure I get your point. When a decent offer comes in for him, which will probably be in the next 18 months we will sell him. At his age, he can't really down tools like some players do, as if he does, then he won't get picked for Nigeria. But his goal against Brazil will have added a few million to his price
I am confident that Rangers would have offered the most money, thus Mr Aribo venturing up to Glasgow.
Isn't it strange, we don't have all this with the BFG yet we got diddly squat for Big Pat plus he is still highly regarded at Charlton …. Joe Aribo is dead to me and I really couldn't care less who he scores international goals against.
He did score a certain goal for us.....and Lee Bowyer didn't say anything about him going to the wrong club, otherwise Preston fans might have had a thing or two to say.
the only advantage he's had in moving to rangers is that he may end up with medals at the end of his career. presuming rangers out point celtic in the 4 competitive games of the season. in terms of ability though, he'd have been better off going to the top of the championship. at the bottom of the prem it'd have been a pounding to nothing. how are rangers for right backs? i fancy a medal.
Weirdly enough, I was on a Rangers group and somebody posted something about Billy Gilmour(you probably haven't heard of him, but moved to Chelsea from us when he was 15, supposed to be the next big Scottish thing, yeah, spare me the obvious jokes) making his debut for Chelsea, admittedly think it was the game that Sheffield Utd came from 2-0 down to get a draw this season. Had Rangers fans, saying, "who gives a ****, he doesn't play for us anymore etc". I find it incredible. I want all (barring maybe a couple) ex Rangers players to do well.
Haha Mo Johnston is a bit of a funny one for me, as is Kenny Miller et al. When Johnston signed for us, I was gutted to be honest, as it was always easier when Rangers were prods and Celtic were papes, especially UK and Southern Irish. Pretty much everybody in Scotland remembers where they were when he signed for Rangers, it is Scotland's man on the moon or JFK shooting. Not to say I wasn't going mental in the East Enclosure when he scored the winner against Celtic in the 88th minute at Ibrox years ago. I just don't get people who can play for both us and Celtic. And yes, I get people think that is me being childish etc but I'd rather slam my balls in a car door than play for Celtic.
These players have to make choices for some they make the right move and some make the wrong move. Maybe for some it's mostly about the money and some not. Aribo could of gone to villa for a bit more money and had a mare there never to be seen again. At the end of the day it's down to them , they like us have to live with their choices
