Lol in their match thread the bit about St Mary's (independent views) says the atmosphere is great. The only moan is that the away supporters are searched which slows things down. Could've done with that for the home and away fans at Lincoln when the LTE were doing their bit. Used to be scary almost every week having to run as fast as anything while opposition and Lincoln fans rioted in the streets mowing down anyone in their way. Thank god that these days 'hooligans' are like puppies compared to those dark days. They talk the talk but this is a much more civilised country now for it.
So in the end, 5 points was the gap. A bit disappointing, as at one point it looked like it was going to be far more points between us. In the end though, 5 points is a substantial difference and illustrates who the superior team was quite well. I worry for you next season. We shall see. Anyway. C ya in a few months.
Don't worry about us, worry about keeping Carroll, without him your long ball style will be as ineffective as it is ugly
WUM. Anyway, well done Trixter. Hammers did well to finish top half this season. Not quite convinced about the superior team, but in the end you got 5 more points than us, so fair enough. I hope you enjoyed your weekend match viewings as much as I enjoyed mine.
The talk of our summer budget suggests otherwise. The fact you're worrying about us when the team you support play Joey O'Brien every week is hilarious.
I don't think West Ham are really in a position to crow too much. Given the Carroll situation the Hammers have to spend big just to stand still. Assuming he signs will there be much money left to strengthen the side elsewhere?
. Christ. We are going to significantly improve your squad. You are going to waste most of your budget on Carroll.
Congrats to WHU on their superior finishing position. I never thought they had it in them. Now they have to make up their minds whether they are going to play attractive football and survive or just survive. As far as I know, WHU have no grand plan, vision or ambition for the forthcoming seasons, bar a spanking new stadium which we've all contributed to. Therefore, as upper midtable is the best I can ever see them ever doing, with maybe a cup, here or there, we'll wave as we go past. Enjoy it for now, because if Saints vision, plans and ambition are anything to go by, it will be rare experience.
I know people seem unhappy that WHU are getting the Olympic stadium, but the other options were that it would sit there and rot, that spurs would get it (a long way from their home) or that Leyton Orient would take 10,000 fans there every week and end up with more debt than pompey. WHU are the logical choice for the stadium, and frankly I never cared one bit where they would finish this season, because I support Saints and my immediate concerns are not the glory supported london clubs but the south coast, in which we saw our fantastic side stay in the PL despite every pundit bar Matt Le Tiss claiming we would go down, my 2nd team Bournemouth got promoted, Brighton also did quite well, and best of all the worlds ugliest fans are now supporting a club in the fourth division after yet another successive relegation. If you want a good giggle, have a look at the Daily Echo 'poch building for the future' post and you will find on the comments page the most straw clutching you have ever seen in your life from a solitary fish boy who will not back down and admit that our club is so much more awesome than theirs. Who cares about the bubble blowers, they are just a gimmick team for Americans to support, south coast is where its at.
Indeed, the South Coast is where it's at, but I'd rather see Pompey doing a bit better, so that the entire South can be said to be doing well. Hopefully, they will. WHU solely getting an almost free stadium, bar £15M is annoying, but I agree, a better option than letting it rot. It wasn't the best option, in my opinion though.
They're paying rent too. I agree it's not ideal, but it's the best option available for clawing back some of the public money that was spent on it.
The whole Olympic Stadium business is a bit of a farce, but I don't blame West Ham for jumping on the opportunity, any team would have.
His interview after the match wasn't convincing, didn't sound like he was staying at WHU, more likely to end up with AP or Di C in the North East.
