I will enjoy watching them get humiliated by Manchester City

Envious & Sunderland are not two words that I could ever imagine putting together before this thread appeared

 

Everyone would say that they're jealous, obviously we'd all like to be in the finals. However, i would not trade it for relegation. Id rather we get into europe and make another push for that trophy. It did take its toll on the club, but knowing what the board know now i think they'd reinforce a little.

 

Using that logic unless Newcastle win the championship you have not enjoyed their undoubted success this season

 

That makes no sense. I'm referring specifically to cup competitions. Say if we got to the final next year of one and lost, I wouldn't consider that success - I'd be disappointed. The league is a very different beast. Short of serious investment we're never going to challenge for that again, but we certainly won't be alone in that.

Yes. I'd love a trip to wembely. I would be absolutely revved. brilliant to see us in a final. Against City or not. I wouldn't be worried about getting a thumping I would just like to see the lads go full power for the win. No way we wouldnt turn up.

They've also beat ManCity before, I think they have a chance, they're somewhat a dodgy team for ManCity. They have a far better chance of beating ManCity than us and ... at the end of the day, I'd rather the Mackems win a trophy than City. ... yeah, I don't know how that makes any sense, but that's how I feel.

Also, the Mackems need a pick me up because they will be relegated. There will be plenty of time at the end of the season to take the piss.

I am envious of the mags league position..if I was a mag I would be envious of Sunderland being at Wembley, of course Chitty are firm favourites and we could get stuffed, if we win and I was a mag it would be hard to take.

As we desperate for points are you going to be kind and give us 3 in a week or so..NE solidarity?

 

Somehow, I seriously doubt the recent benevolence and good will shown toward Sunderland will extend to giving you 3 points next week.

However, giving you Fredor back is another matter - can you please make him welcome on your board, he's like a nasty little rash that doesn't go away, but all in all he's harmless and apparently originates from Pennywell.

Now that dust has settled I think when it comes down to it there would be very few Toon fans would swap our season for theirs.

Ok, Sunderland fans have the euphoria of getting to a Cup Final, good luck to them because they'll need it.
Big difference with playing a super charged Man City team out to win anything they can lay their hands on, than a disenchanted Man U team on the wane.

I may well be envious to some extent, but, that's borne out of frustration with Ashley more than anything else.
As well as we doing, I want more.

I don't want us to settle for 8th place, I just feel that if the club would only go that extra yard and bring in a couple of good players (which may still happen) this month it would make a statement.
Show us the fans, and the clubs above us fighting for Europa League place that we aren't going to go away and will fight all the way to the end of the season.

The Capital One Cup could merely be a light snack within the context of the haul of trophies they could devour this season.
