Whilst I definitely acknowledge that the spectrum does exist, I'm not sure the two terms spell things out right. They're too synonymous. Personally I think all of us tend towards the higher end mostly because we give large amounts of our time when there isn't a game on talking on forums about Norwich.

I meet a lot of people who identify as Norwich fans who will be completely uninformed, will bring up rumours like facts they heard (ie someone said to me over the summer "didn't we just sell Hooper") or like matches but don't share my desire for long discussions about our best CB pairing, or how to get the best out of Jonny Howson etc. it's just not something that factors much into their lives outside of 3:00 - 4:45 on a Saturday, sometimes not even then. I'd never dispute that these people don't want Norwich to win as much as I do or suggest that they're less deserving a fan than I am. They're just less wrapped up in it than I am, maybe that's generally a good thing.

the thing I do like about away games is that you meet far fewer people like that. I've been to several on my own Tuesday nights in London, and it good to know you can speak to pretty much anyone and we have a shared passion.

I will admit that over the years of this, and other, message board, you see a post by a " fan " who is unaware that player A is injured or player B is suspended. There have been numerous other instances as well. I live a long way from Carrow Road and Norfolk, with no EDP or Anglia TV to keep me up to date. I am on the internet early morning, it is 08:19 at the moment, to catch up on the latest news, developments and rumours. Back in the pre internet era, BBC World Service was my only link, and then news of City was very scarce. Had the Pinkun posted to me weekly wherever I was in the world in order to stay informed.

Well, I supported NCFC in the dark days of league 1, so I guess that makes me a supporter!!!

I remember seeing something that 75% of ManUre fans have never been to Old Trafford!!!

I'd honestly be surprised if it's as low as that, their overseas following dwarves the number of uk based fans.

I claim to be a supporter then Dave by your definition although to me, the definition of supporter means being a CR regular which sadly I am unable to do. I do live and breath Norwich City so on that point I disagree with JK. Defining the terms objectively is very difficult.
