You think Fiorentina offered more than us? Our wage bill is 20% larger than Fiorentina's. (Source: ESPN).

Let's not pretend that Real Madrid and Bayern were in for Berba. Jol & London swung it for us, I imagine that the wages were similar across all his offers.

Are you going to answer the question? Man Utd are still paying a percentage of his wages, don't forget. Why did he turn down Fiorentina, Juventus and Spurs? Did he get the wrong bus? That would make it lucky.

Spurs were never in for Burbatov that was just a rumour… He had a choice of us and Fiorentina. Living in London (and possibly Jol) swung it

I would go along with DR it was a lucky signing.

I just want to know why you think it was lucky? That would imply it was accidental, and I would think everything about the move was pretty deliberate. If you mean it was lucky that Jol is here then I can kind of see where you're coming from, if you wanted to discredit the club.

Only going on rumour, but Sir Alex was said to be instrumental in Man Utd paying part of his wages but only if he came to us. Fergie was not prepared to help if he went abroad.

I'd say we were fortunate rather than lucky and thank said Sir Alex.

Exactly the point, Bidley - Man Utd were paying a good percentage of his wages for this year only, I believe. I think I heard somewhere it was 40%. That is why it wouldn't surprise me to see him move on - I'm not sure we could afford the full Berba, as it were.
