Mate, we were fukin sexy against Fulham and pegged back by a very good southampton team (Can't wait for you to go to St Marys). Tell yourself we're not far from your mess if you want. It could make your fall more painful in the long run. ;)

Makes not a ****e of difference mate. 2 games in we have 1 point, you have 1 point.

Difference is we have played League contenders and mid-table contenders. You have played mid-table contenders and lower middle-table contenders.

You can't say that man, both teams have gone down with squads that were 'too good' to go down, neither clubs had the internal rot Newcastle have now(though it was starting to stink). It's not the fans, it's not the team, it's a really bad management structure. They could be in trouble. They need to be the extra man for home games. As do we. We could look relegation fodder by Christmas with our run of home games. Hard to get loosing team winning. We're by no means safe either. No where near that mess but still vulnerable all the same.

We've still played well this season, Should that not give us comfort like? You would have taken comfort from a good performance against West Ham. You all would. So it's understandable we've gained a bit of relief and not panicking like you lot. We've seen some real quality already.

Not really, I'm not a fan of playing well and losing/drawing and conversely would be much more worried about it. We may have been complete manure against West Ham but we were still only a Gouffran 2 foot sitter miss away from grabbing the lot, that gives me a degree of comfort. However playing well and losing became a depressingly familiar trait for us in our relegation season.
My theory is that if playing poorly the team know there is a higher level they can play to and will seek to better themselves to reach it so bad results will be disappointing but not too disheartening. When playing well and losing its a different ball game altogether as the players will be searching for answers as to what more the team could possibly have done to win. Heads will drop as players struggle to be confident for the win even when playing well. This is sort of the effect we had after the Benfica 2nd leg last year where we played the best football I have seen us play in a very long time, only to still lose. Our season was an absolute trainwreck from there on in, only escaping by the skin of our teeth.

With di canio its a ticking time bomb

So you can take comfort in a ****e performance and missing an open goal but I shouldn't take comfort in a fantastic performance that yielded a 83.5% pass success rate when we couldn't put 3 passes together last season? Also by your reasoning I can take comfort from our Soton match, which yielded a goal with a bad performance (better than a bad performance and missing an open goal that you're taking comfort from). Mate, you are backwards. Can't take anything you say seriously because you're on a different planet.

Was at SJP this afternoon and saw JK getting into, or trying to get into a lift.

Tricky things to operate these lifts.

Fulham are consistent mid-table, Soton will have a very good season. Unlike our clubs.

Is that the same as not being able to get over the line?

Too early to say who's going to have a good season and who's going to have a bad one, but it's never nice to be stuck at the lower end of the table.

    11 Cardiff 2 -1 3
    12 Fulham 2 -1 3
    13 Hull 2 -1 3
    14 Everton 2 0 2
    15 Norwich 2 -1 1
    16 Sunderland 2 -1 1
    17 West Brom 2 -1 1
    18 Newcastle 2 -4 1
    19 Crystal P 2 -2 0
    20 Swansea 2 -4 0

Sunderland could be if their current score line is anything to go by <laugh>

Should turn it around though with 55 mins left.
