Im a bit mystified with King, Didnt set alot up or score many at all, showed some promise but as a serious attacking threat we need more end product.
Wouldnt write stewart off, just dont think he's consistent enough to be a top 6 first team player, good option off the bench unless he's in top form
I think Stewart will surprise us this year, he seems a bit more determined to prove his critics wrong. All he needs to do, is run at a defender, cause mayhem and whip the ball into the area. Last season, he had so many chances to drill it across from the by-line and he fluffed it. He could'a had a hat-trick in the first half against Brighton if he had some confidence in one-on-one opportunities. I wouldn't write him off just yet lads. He'll come through. As for Josh King, I'd like him back on a Season-long-loan with a view to a permanent deal at the end. His pace will be vital to any squad he is in. I feel as though, if he had more game-time experience in the Championship, sorted his decision making out, and started to shoot more, he would be a great player to have.
I just think King and Stewart are a huge gamble when it comes to needing the goals and assists from wide areas to get promoted, it showed last season as it was one of our weak areas, Does anybody think they can massivley improve on last seasons efforts and provide the ammo? im a bit sceptical, need more experiance aka Aluko and one more, King and Stewart at this moment in time and going by last seasons efforts are great as backup just dont think there promotion material just yet.
I agree with that post. However, I think that if we had Aluko and Stewart on the wings - or Aluko and King - both Stewart and King can offer something completely different. King we could bring on to add blistering pace, cause the opposition to sit deeper, whereas Stewart is a tad more creative and can bring more players into the game. Respectively, they can be each other's 'Plan B' if one starts, the other can be used as the replacement.
Stewart can be top class and I have faith that he will come good this season. I'd also love King back but I'd have him on the bench as an impact player. Whenever he came on last season you saw the oppositions defenders **** themselves after the first run he made. Imagine having to keep up with Stewart and Aluko for 70 minutes and then seeing King come on. He really is frighteningly quick. But if people call Stewart's decision making poor, King's is even worse. I'd still like Keane in on-loan as well, as I really don't rate McShane.
I really, really hope Stewart hits top form again this season but going on the three pre-season games he's had he looked exactly the same as he did at the end of last season: plenty of effort and determined to do well but nothing would come off. He's still making bad decisions about when to run at his man and the couple of times he did beat his man at Grimsby he just got hauled down, which didn't help his confidence and visibly frustrated him.
I'd like to see Anderson on a free (has he not found a club yet?) and King on a season long loan. That would give us Aluko, King, Koren, and Stewart for the wings and the hole (Fryatt as well could be tried behind another striker), but with King signing as well we'd also have cover for the role Proschwitz will play without having to offload one of the smaller strikers from the squad. (Let's see if two days in a row I can make a post that appears on the BBC Sport website as a news story the next day)
I've said it a few times but why do we think Anderson would be good enough for us? Isn't he rubbish? Out of interest, what was yesterday's post which became a BBC Sport story?
I don't think he's the best winger in the division or anything like that, but he's a decent player and if we had King, Aluko, and Stewart (even Koren who could already play on the wing if we took him out the middle) I think we'd be struggling to bring in a better 4th winger for the squad, and him being on a free is a bonus. Get the four of them rotating and mixing around on form and we're well covered. Basic coincidence (unless we have a BBC reporter spying on us), but the Barton suspension loophole thing. I'd be quite happy to strike on another coincidence if it involved the signings.
