Jeez, I can't bloody count now! You are of course quite right Fleet and the extra 2 games makes my scenario more doable. I have to say it still didn't click when I read your piece the first time, must be my age. Hey Longsight, it is only a bit of speculation and conjecture after all and not to be taken too seriously fella.
The only thing that we are lacking is a settled back 4 and keeper, we can score for fun but over half the season has gone and the only player that we would all have week in week out is Ollsson , Turner ,Cueller, Bennet, Martin ,Whittacker and Hooieveld have all been a bit iffy maybe the return of Bassong will help.
We're never going to have a settled back 4 until we start playing a pair of proper CB's and give them a decent run in the team. Hopefully Martin will now start playing at RB. For me Turner & Bennet would be first choice. I like Cuellar, but only really see him as back up. for Turner. I think Bennett should start along side Turner and they would be my first choice. I would think that eventually Miguel will be back up for Bennett, but I don't think he's ready yet, Hooieveld. could do a job at a push. Bassong is the obvious one to play alongside Turner, but I just don't like his attitude. I think we need to find I quick CB in this window to play alongside Turner or Cuellar and sell Bassong to finance this. Playing Martin as CB in my view unbalances the whole side and give Whittaker no competion.
Defence is certainly the biggest issue for AN to sort out, but it's not just the back four, but the CM contribution as well. We missed Tettey's breaking up play skills yesterday, especially for the goals. If AN can sort out Bassong; he and Turner are our best pairing. I like RB, but he and Turner are both right-sided players. If not Bassong, then Hooiveld is the most natural pairing with Turner. Interesting that he was on the bench yesterday.
Bumpety bumped Just noticed you still haven't voted on this one from August Hairy ? we are currenty on 18 who think we can win the title and 49 that think we won't .
The binners have been rubbing that 7 points ahead stat in our faces for ages it would be great to chip it down to 4 by Saturday . I voted Yes in August and lost a bit of faith during our bad run but it looks very do able again Thai .
The results of the last 2 weeks have blown it wide open for sure, and last night I was starting to think that Carrabuh might actually be proved right. That 8 point gap to top spot could be just 5 on Saturday! A gap that seems much easier to bridge. Let's get the Brentford game out of the way, hopefully with a win, and it's game on for definite
Carrabuh's optimism is a holy light glowing in all of our hearts Thai. He could be compared to our Lord & saviour Jesus Christ in so many ways.
The fact its now in our own hands is frankly astonishing. I was going to say 'nobody could have predicted it' but actually, three or four people on here did!! Kudos to them - but there's still a long way to go and as RBF says, a few banana skins to negotiate. But if we don't get automatic promotion from here I'll be pretty devastated.
