http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10335~2376616,00.html Approach has been made for the services of manager Malky Mackay Just how much money they want now then
Although im chuffed we didn't get him, I think it proves what an egotistical self righteous idiot he really is.
Yes...I wonder how high we will go? Is he worth half a million or more? I am playing a broken record but just sign CH
I think it looks like a done deal unless Watford want silly money... Can't see that though they know now that Malky wants out... Not long now then we can all get behind our new manager.... Exciting times.
There are a few managers out there that would do us proud, but promotion and relegation come down to fine margins. Dave Jones will get the Brum job as they always covet what Cardiff have / want / had. Roger Johnson, Jerome, Burke, that clown that had a medical and signed for them (I'm sure there are more). I'm glad we didn't get, or is it didn't want, Shearer. I'm not sure he has the character to be a manager. I'd happily have Houghton, as with several other of the candidates mentioned. We need someone in the next few days though. A lot of recruitment to do.
I would get behind Malky for sure Rhondda. He is not my preferred choice but if he is appointed then he is the man I do wonder why he has impressed our board more than others but so be it.
Quote from WFC board "..the question is really what is the price to Cardiff to be allowed to talk to and potentially unsettle our manager. I'd say an up front fee of a million to be allowed to talk would be fair followed by Malky telling them where to stick their job" £1m just to talk? Is he really that good? There's also talk of suing MM over breach of contract if he leaves I despair sometimes.
i've given up trying to reason with watford fans, to be honest i'm getting sick of their deluded reasons for MM to not end up here. if we want him, then we'll get him, its as simple as that. if there in as much financial trouble then they se they are, they certainly wont be able to hold out for anywhere near £1m. based on the above i'd say a fair fee would be around £500k. he's done little to suggest he could lead us to promotion, but still, he could be a gem, and as such, i think around £500k is around the level we should be talking. roberto martinez led swansea to automatic promotion, and signed a series of quality players, and finished in the top 8 in his first season in the championship, with a very low budget, playing some outstanding football. so he was worth the money wigan paid as he had proven himself to be a quality manager. mackay, on the other hand, would come here with alot to prove, so therefore i wouldnt value him anywhere near £1m.
Plus about 300k a year...well now we are on DJs salary....Hughton sitting there twiddling his thumbs probably happy with 300k a year without compo
The majority of Watford fans are level-headed and honest, and understand that if the right price is quoted for any of our assets, we'll probably have to sell. Obviously no Watford fan wants to see Malky go, but if his head is turned by a bigger budget at Cardiff, then we can have few complaints. Rest assured that Malky would do a great job for you - Watford had the second-lowest playing budget in the Championship last season, yet he kept us within reach of the play-offs for almost the entire season. A 14th-place finish didnt reflect on our season as a whole.
Reading paid 500k + 500k add ons for Rodgers in 2009. I imagine they'll look for the same from us http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/watford/8086035.stm I don't like the criticism of Shearer's statement, considering the press interest in this I think he had to say something and he complimented TG and his ambition and vision and wished us the best. I thought it was a nice touch, all of this will be forgotten when the formalities are completed with Mackay. I don't think there is any doubt that he will be appointed, it is just a matter of what we are going to cough up.
Swamp: They love him but until he's 'proven', I agree 500k would be at top end Siam: Have you got a few quid riding on CH mate? Well there's a def difference of opinion on WFC ranging from "It's just a matter of time" to the equally thought out "Baaardiff wont get him" so I'm leaving them to it. I've told them this whole panto is now becoming farcical. At least both clubs are now releasing statements rather than the Red Tops/WoL crap
Hey H-Bomb Nahhh...I just don't get it to be honest! And when I started this thread we hadn't made any moves on MM. I am not against him being appointed. Still don't see why we want to pay 500k to a club when we have other (perhaps better) options. But the board will do as it does. They new owners have done okay so far!
Rumors from inside the club suggest that the Hughton interview didnt go well, nothing to do with CCFC it was Hughton who didnt come across well. Take from that what you will. However all this dithering is starting to become unprofessional. I just wish they would make a decision. I feel like a mushroom at the moment. Kept in the dark and fed on ****e
Yeah...I did guess that the Hughton interview must have not gone down well. As I said earlier it appears he is definitely not the Number 1 choice. As the day has progressed I am coming around to Malky anyway. If we can afford the compo I see no problem with having him as the manager. Just think he may be the safe choice....doesn't excite me as Hughton or Di Matteo but there you go. At the start of the day we looked like signing Shearer so I guess I was in a panic
Once both clubs released statements it seems to me that what they meant was it's in the hands of the accountants.
I very much doubt whether Shearer was offered the job, like most senior appoinments there was a list of applicants, and a list of people who were invited to apply, because they were invited to apply people sometimes assume they are being offered the job, which is rarely true. This lets the club have a look at Shearer, and Shearer have a look at the club, Shearer then makes a decision on whether he wants to take his application further and join the list of applicants being interviewed. As good business practice, and as a matter of common courtesy, it makes good sense to interview all the candidates on any shortlist before making a decision, and this lot are nothing if not professional...........could you imagine if they just said to everyone on the interview list that they'd given the job to the first or second guy they'd interviewed and the rest could just go home. They may have been impressed by the first guy on the list and after say, six of ten applicants have been seen they may regard him as the best SO FAR, but they won't make a decision until all the candidates have been interviewed it would be stupid to do so. Shearer being as thick as two short hammers, probably thought that because he'd been invited to apply, the job was his if he wanted it.........but he was not the only candidate.
Proph, thats what I said rioght at the start of tihs. They have to interview all the candidates before they make a dicision, it the only correct way to do it. See everyone them sit down and talk it though and make a short list or your choice, then politely let everyone know your decision. It's called good business.
To be honest, of course Watford fans are going to be somewhat defensive. We had to put up with this 2 years ago when Brendan was touted for the Reading job. He came out saying the links with Reading were questioning his integrity. A few days later Reading approach, in which we reject, then he throws his toys out of his pram and we managed to negotiate a very good deal for the club! We are realstic and know we're not the most attractive of outfits about at the moment, but just feels like deja-vu (without the comments). It just makes you wonder how Cardiff are so confident Malky wants to join if no 'official' approach has been made - so has Malky (or his agent) agreed that he would go.... If there has been, then of course we will fight our corner! Most clubs have had this situation where a more 'attractive' offer comes in and they want to go - it's how the manager goes about their business whether they are cheered upon their return, or labelled a 'judas'. if he goes, we just hope we can clap him when he returns to the Vic
