Clubs absolutely assess the mentality of players, they assess as much as possible to take as few risks as they can on a player worth millions. Wenger, for a great manager, has only 3 league titles in 18 years. Wenger has had 2 years without any limitations on spending and the club have gone backwards. Van Gaal has had 6 months and has turned the club around so it seems. Wenger has never beaten Mourinho and his record against the top clubs is the worst of any top team in the league.
