Emnes and Graham would give us options up front and I don't think either could handle a sole-striker role all season on their own so they'd be used in rotation. I don't see us changing our style of play to go two up top very often. This 451/433 is the style of football we're comfortable with and that got us this far so to change that a lot will only hurt the team imo. I think the price of Routledge is being touted as £1.5m which is a good price, but I agree with those that say there are probably better for a bit more. He's almost identical to Dyer though in play and size so I'm sure we can sneakily substitute them without the ref noticing? He'd be the cover on the wings, not Emnes imo (and we can use Luke Moore for wings, striker and Dobbie's cover)
It's a decent shout. I'd rather have Emnes for 1.5mil than Routledge, but I don't think we'll get him for that. I'd be happy with a million plus Beattie, as musty suggested, but I can see Beattie playing in place of Graham this season when he needs a rest... so I doubt that kind of deal will happen. I guess the burning question is how much could we get him for? When I said before "I don't see the fuss", I don't mean I don't think he'd suit us, just I don't think he's as good as some people made out considering his game time with us. We'd be paying for potential, which is risky at this level, but if the price is right then brilliant. He's probably not on the level of Dyer and Sinclair at the moment, but with a pre-season behind him and some confidence he could easily be, I think... That is, however, purely speculation!
Speculation..... 1.5 mill for a player when your in the Prem is a snip. I know what your saying though Scott as we don't want to be throwing dosh away. Aint it strange that we still think of a 2 million pound transfer as risky.....WE ARE PREMIERE LEAGUE and any of the other teams in the Prem would be laughing at this right now! By the way, for the record, I think it's great we still feel this way!
