Jaap Stam and Fabian Bartinez? (the French gk, cant remember his name)

I think fear factor and being scared is the same too, basically fear of getting it wrong for fear of what would happen to you. Dropped, sold, shouted at, belittled in front of team mates etc.

At a place where you are picking up medals, being payed well, playing for an extremely popular club and thinking the best thing about it is the road out (cheers Vidic <ok>) Selfishness also comes into it and you would stay even if you were on the receiving end of a fear factor

Keane is the only one that springs to mind, but he seems bitter about his whole football life in general so not too fussed about his oppinion.

Crazy that Moyes got rid of everyone imo (Giggs excluded) I cant really understand why he got rid of clearly v talented staff. I know he wanted his stamp on it but he made that many changes, (and if you believe what you read against Fergusons advice) I just think that Moyes thinks hes a bit better than what he actually is

But best of luck to you ;)

Jaap Stam 'stuck the knife in' before he left by revealing that Ferguson tapped him up in an Amsterdam hotel without his club's knowledge, and Fergie got rid of their best defender at the time to save his own arse.<laugh>

This only means anything if you are good enough to do it elsewhere, there have been many top name players who have stepped out of line and been moved on who have nothing but praise for Fergie. There will always be people who are bitter when found out for taking drugs or not being quite good enough.

To be fair, Roy Keane appears to hate the entire universe.

I like it how he scares Southgate, Dixon and Chiles though. Should see more of it on Fri night (tonight! - Doesnt time fly)

They should all be sacked tbf. Hate the England games where it as all the gay interview things before hand, trying to make out what Lions they all are

We're ****, lets hope we can get to the world cup, sack Hodgson the minute we do and appoint someone who will have a go at teams and also breed us some new players

Yeah, we're a long way off aren't we

Not fast enough though. Still no real footie for over a week. Most of us on here will find it tough to hold on to what little sanity we had in the first place.

If you want a simple answer to the question set then yes United are probably in decline. However you then have to define what you actually mean by decline and the level to which the organisation may decline.

Looking at United as a corporate entity then history shows us that the majority of corporations who achieve dominance in their particular markets ultimately lose that dominant position. What none of us will see is the culture shock that is effecting the club by the loss of Ferguson and Gill and the installation of a 'new story' under Moyes. However, if they fail to manage this shock then the cracks in the organisation will open and the pace and level of the decline will be exacerbated.

My own belief is that United will quickly lose their invincible label. Transfers will continue to be problematic simply because even though the cash may be there, United are not the draw for players that they were. I do not believe that they will crash and burn (no matter how much that would please me). They will be there abouts but it will take some time before they realise that they have become the bridesmaids. It is only at that point that we will see the truth value of the Glazier ownership.

  19. I know the life of a footballer is a completely different world to what us mere mortals have to put up with but I've had a manager that rule by fear and trust me, its not good. I was young and naive at the time but if I was put in that situation again there is no way I'd stick around.

  20. Not at all. All manager should present a fear factor to players. The players should be worried that if they don't perform they will be dropped or, if performances are terrible, kicked out of the club completely. All managers should have that air of authority, this is what I consider to be the fear factor.

Players should not be scared of that manager, that creates a bad atmosphere and relationship. It makes that person unapproachable and will make some players very uncomfortable, not only at the club but also with life.
