FFS, are you winding me up? Ferguson had a big fear factor. Moyes doesnt have the same or the skill for such a big job, IMO
Right okay, splitting hairs a little IMO but ultimately amount to the same thing, fear of not doing it right
One season drop is a blip, 2 or 3 seasons consecutive drops could indicate a decline. We have 10 points after 7 games this season, in 2002/2003 season we had 11 points after 7 games, we won the league that season by 5 points beating a pretty good Arsenal side into second.
If a player is scared of someone, they won't stick around as they will be in a unpleasant working environment, plus they probably wouldn't play to their best if they are unhappy. If they fear the managers wrath then it may encourage them to play better. IMO, albeit it small, there is a difference. PS...I can be quite pedantic when it comes to certain words
Pedantic? never...... I still disagree, if you feel you're in a good place for selfish reasons but you're scared of the boss you will stay, because its good for yourself
If you take the fact that he would not tollerate people under performing or causing dissent and that no matter how well known your name was you could be out of the club in an instant, then yes, he had a fear factor. Fergie expected players to perform and act professional at all times, if more managers took this attitude they would have better teams, not just a group superstar players.
I realise you have had poor starts before but everything is different now, no Ferguson to point out the obvious
also, only for Sunderland tiring after 60 minutes of working their socks off it would have been 7 from 7 games. It has to be the first time getting rid of a fungus was a bad thing
One thing is different, no Fergie. We are still the same club with the same players and the same winning mentality, and fergie is still around somewhere
tell our players that We've been poor after the half time oranges, get some different ****ing oranges!
That's not being pedantic- that's just making up your own definitions. I think there was a definite fear factor with players under Fergie (my opinion). I think there are more reasons to keep players at the dominant team in the league- status, trophy winning potential, money etc- than having a love-in with the manager. Despite what's been said above, I seem to remember there have been one or two players who have stuck the knife in after they've left. I can't remember who, though- and I'm far to idle to do any research.
