Just because they are linked with a player United are after doesnt mean they have a chance in hell of getting him.

Montinho.... CL football next season at Porto, improved massively while there and certainly very little intention of stepping down a few levels.

If he leaves Porto its to Man Utd. Considering we have a few of his team mates, used to have others and have a shed load of portugese speaking players then I dont think the AVB link will have much impact.

For a while now and bar the odd dodgy season spurs have been a top 6 side who occasionally broke into the top 4. They are essentially Everton of the south.

Also the reason they seem to be getting better is because both Arsenal and Chelsea are getting worse.

Fleetwood Town are catching up to Liverpool mind!

I dont like chelsea or Arsenal but Spurs are a distant 3rd now. Arsenal are by far the biggest club historically, financially its Chelsea but I see nothing in which spurs can claim an upper hand over the other 2.

Given United have a history of not being able to sign top class talent from abroad, I wouldn't be too cocky!! Your good at bullying Spurs and the like into selling you their best players but struggle to attract top talent outside of the P.L.

But I suppose with City around snatching the likes of Nasri from under your noses you have to look elsewhere now!!

I wouldn't be so sure. Moutinho did recently come out and say he would love to work with AVB again

I'm not slamming United at all but things have changed since 5/10 years ago.

There was a time when any foreign player would have chosen United over any other club without a moments hesitation but those days are gone now.

Chelsea pipped United to Mikel, Essien and Robben

Arsenal pipped United to Ramsey and Oxlaide-Chamberlain

It's become clearer to me that Spurs appointed AVB because they saw him as a bright young manager who could also attract the type of player to take Spurs to the next level. Arry was a dinosaur lets face it. What cost Spurs any realistic shot at the title last year was Arrys inability to change tactics for the big sides. When HIAG was spouting off in January I remained confident they would falter for that reason.

At present I don't see any significant advantage of choosing United over Spurs apart from the fact United are guaranteed to be playing CL Football in front of huge crowds each season.

Apart from the Premier League are United likely to do better than Spurs in any other competition? No not really.

Moutinho is indebted to AVB by his own admission as it was he who brought him to Porto at a young age.

I have a hunch Moutinho will pick Spurs over United especially if Nani leaves

Wouldn't be surprised if he joined AVB. He obviously likes and respects him.

I know Arrys gone --having done about the best job for donkeys years at the Spuds. It will be a great opportunity to measure AVB's talents against him in the coming season!

You are underestimating the importance of Champions League football. Without it Spurs will struggle to move forward and if I was Moutinho and looking at the PL I see United far above Spurs. I would chose Spurs if I was worried about getting game time at United which is not going to be the case. He would be signed as a first team regular.

As for are we likely to better Spurs in other competitions? I think thats a resounding yes. Last season we failed in europe. Prior to that only Barcelona have been better than us in the past 5 seasons. We have been one of the best teams in europe for years now, regularly reaching finals aswell. If it wasnt for Barcelona having the greatest period in football history then we might have a few more CL titles.

In domestic cups they may have a better season than us which isnt too bad really.

Its basically Spurs offering Europa League football, good money, become part of a decent squad who are potential challenges for the top 4 but not really going to push for the title. The main selling point is literally AVB. At United its a team who will be challenging for the title, in the Champions League and last season apart, likely challenges on the european front. Probably higher wages and a number of players who speak the same language. Also the chance of working with Sir Alex, the man who helped mould a certain Mr Ronaldo into the worlds best player ( at one point! ) will be a nice bonus.

Is the AVB link so strong that it out weighs all the benefits at United?

We ARE superior, we're the current CL & FA cup holders while you lot will be cannon-fodder for Europe's bigger clubs - AGAIN!
Oh, by the way, you won **** all and got humiliated by an average AC Milan side
Hope this clears things up for you!

Whoops, they're no different though are they? They're ALL jealous of CFC's success and overall superiority! Funny how gooners are so bitter though I feel. It's not our fault that Aresnil's board have been raping the club for years is it?

I agree that it would be surprising if he chose us over United, even if I disagree with some of the reasoning. It might be arrogant but at least it's not as deluded as Liverpool fans that couldn't understand a single reason that Sigurdsson would choose us over them.

Would it be a two horsed race though? Like it or not there are questions over whether Man Utd could afford him, especially if bidding were to head up to the £30mill region.
