So ticket sales are up for 9 SPL teams and you think that Savcos, St.Mirren and Hearts are down mainly due to the recession.

Dev, I have a question, you pointed out the other day that people were "far worse off" than they were in 2010, and said that was the main reason for falling attendances at the piggery. Does the big bad recession only affect Celtic fans(and Hearts and St Mirren), as you said that 9 of the SPL teams attendances rose. My brain hurts.

Monaco, FFS will you read all the posts first, Meds has already asked this question, but to be fair it is a good question, one i think Dev will have a hard time explaining.

Where did I say that? Maybe you should actually start reading what I said rather than what you think I said or what you want to imagine I said.

You are one of the people who suggested the lack of Rangers was the MAIN reason, I have never said the recession is the main reason, that would be Peter Lawell who is in a better position than any of us to comment. All I have ever suggested is that there a number of reasons.

In your eyes Celtic fans have stopped going to games at Parkhead, MAINLY (not away games where the attendences are much the same) because Rangers are not in the SPL.

Precisely. As for away games, you'll always sell them out, hardcore fans will always go.

Nope, I only disagreed that it was MAINLY down to Rangers absence. That was my stance then as it is now.

Young Neville. Doesn't care about Celtic. Doesn't want to talk about them.

Dev you are digging a hole for yourself, give it up. I genuinely like you as a poster, but you are speaking pish now. You were banging on about every **** being far worse off than they were a few years ago and were agreeing with Lawwell that the economy was the main reason reason.

It is an undeniable fact that attendances in the SPL are down across the board from pre-recession numbers (2007-8 or 2008-9, take your pick). They were down last season and the season before - it's an ongoing thing, not something that's happened the instant Rangers were liquidated.

However, this insistence on comparing the average attendance of clubs' 5 (or 6) home games this season with the entirety of last season proves next to nothing. Certainly it does not show one way or the other that the presence or absence of Rangers has had any discernable effect on SPL attendances.

So Savco's main rivals, basically their only challengers for titles over the past 15 years, the teams that ensures they sell out their stadium, leaves the 2 horse race of the SPL and coincidentally attendances drop.

Now rather than admit the main reason for this drop is like Rangers fans, Celtic fans, the bookies, the media, everybody under the sun already knows is that Celtic will easily win the SPL because Rangers are not there to compete.

But no, let's find a 101 reasons of why the fans are not turning up.

    Haven't we been through this?

Celtic's overall league attendances have been rising since 2009/10.

What was Rangers' attendance on Saturday? If the numbers are down does that mean Rangers fans are not interested?

Your refusial to accept that there may be more than ONE reason for falling attendances at Parkhead (whilst ignoring falling attendances at Ibrox) kinda sums up your closedmindedness better than i ever could <ok>

So, to follow the logic of Medro, Neville et al., crowds are up at the majority of SPL clubs because the corrupt and tax avoiding Rangers aren't there.

    Good to know <ok>

    25,478.

Cup games normally attract lower crowds.

I did not say there weren't multiple reasons why attendances were down, I did say that the MAIN reason was Rangers absence.

Teams now have a chance of getting into the Champions league qualifiers, do you not think that would attract more fans?
