You won’t believe this but I was having a pint in a pub in the Lakes and I got talking to this bloke and Spuggy came up, just about everyone in Sunderland new Spuggy
Spuggy Purvis. Teddy Boy with a reputation, apparently deserved, as a Hard Man. One poor soul I recall reading about, got on the wrong side of him, and was expecting trouble. Being cautious he went about his normal life, prepared. On one fateful occasion, convinced that Spuggy was waiting for him, craftily he got his revenge in first. At least, that was his defence in Court, as reported in The Echo, when he was done for GBH. A case of Mistaken Identity His victim wasn't Spuggy..
Used to see this all the time in Peterlee and still do when I visit family. My wife (a Dorset girl) was so shocked the first time I took her there. She never wants to visit again! Down here in Dorset, it is a completely different way of life. You just don't see that sort of behaviour. I left Peterlee when I was 16 to join the army and swore blind that I would never live in Peterlee again. I've been true to my word....
Not so sure mate. If hard drugs were so readily available the kids would have done it. Same with knives in my opinion. Today is a point in time, as were the 70s. Kids are the same.
The police have seen them too. The two bikers and bikes that travel from ASDA on Leechmere Road to Plainsy and Thorney Close are pretty easy to identify too.
No borstals now is there. you got clipped of a copper then your father back in the day. drunk drivers i would send to China for sentance.
Sometimes twice off dad . One for your offence and one because the neighbours have seen police come to house
