If that's the going price then they are most certainly overpriced

Young english players like ranger, keiron gibbs, victor moses and wel basically the whole under 21 england squad, none of them would cost 20m. Liverpoll have paid well over the odds to buy a player noiw instead of showing intrest and signing them when they have a year left so they can get a better deal. Its a lot to pay and whoever made the barca comment made me laugh! Barca have a whole school dedicated to bringing in youth xavi ineista pedro all came through the ranks and cost nothing its a bit diffrent to splashin out 55m on two averageish at the time players

We have shot ourselves in the foot.

In a bid to get good, English talent, we all want to keep them unless extortionate fees are paid. This then leads to English players being over-priced which causes clubs to buy foreign players which halts the production of good, English talent.

I hear you're a bit light in the fullback department, want to buy James Perch?

I agree to a certain extent. However, the flip side is that the EPL clubs that have the money will be able to buy the young English players, therefore the youngsters will play for the top teams. Although i must admit my argument is pretty weak!

I don't usually believe in conspiracy theories but IMO Dalglish is just using his money to disrupt teams around him who will be challenging for the UEFA. He bought Carroll knowing very well that he doesn't fit their usual style of play and know he wants Henderson who's not world class but who is still very important to Sunderland.

I'm not gonna complain about us spending big amounts of money. If the guys in charge wanna spend big then bring it on. I guess only time will tell, but Kenny always spotted a great player last time round.

Just watching SSN and Beardsley said that no-one in the game comes close to spotting players like Kenny and his ability to bring youngsters through is on a different level to anyone else in the game.

We're see how it pans out over the next few years.

I think this summer will be mad, it will probably be the last summer we see big big spending with the new financial regulations coming in. So I can see why they're doing it. Not that Carroll and Henderson are worth that. I think Jones for £15m isn't bad, he's going to be immense. Let's sling Perch their way for ten million. Young, English....

If they spend sixty or seventy million this summer then twenty million in the next three it only averages thirty million per season which isn't overly excessive given that you get more than that in TV money.

Given that they'll have no European distraction next season it should throw an interesting slant on who'll get top 4 next season.
