    Leicester Gay Pride gets LGBT funding

    Leicester Gay Pride 2010 has secured £2,500 from the city's LGBT Centre and Trade Sexual Health as part of a sponsorship deal.

    The LGBT Centre and Trade are due to invest further in the event through the first-ever LGBT Health and Wellbeing Roadshow due to take place during Pride.

    "Pride is an essential part of the LGBT calendar and we want to ensure the success of the event. We are confident that our health and wellbeing roadshow will give LGBT people better access to health and sexual health," said Sa Khalifa of Trade on behalf of the two organisations.

    The roadshow will offer LGBT people access to a range of services designed to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. The Leicester GUM clinic will provide a sexual health screening service for men and women, as well as information and advice on checking for breast and testicular cancer as part of the roadshow.

    Danger Fox, vice-chairman of Leicester Gay Pride, said: "We appreciate the continued support from the Leicester LGBT Centre and Trade Sexual Health and look forward to working with them on the day and in the future. Leicester Gay Pride is very excited about supporting the first-ever health and wellbeing roadshow."
