Yep this is true and when I wrote it I realised that this would incur a penalty. As for high ticket prices I believe this is a side effect of our transition from highbury. Bigger, better and more advanced stadium coupled with trying to stay competitive financially will have the side affect of higher ticket prices.
To be fair though Arsenals owners are not much better. At least Romans aims are club success - not just financial reward. Dont get me wrong I would'nt swap situations because who knows what will happen to Chelsea when the Russian tycoon looses interest.
Arsenal's owners are rubbish. Take Wenger out of the equation and let's see how good they really are. No top 4 finishes, no manager like Wenger and then see the crowds reduce and profits dwindle. It's also thanks to Wenger that we've got a good deal on sponsership. What other club could get this much money for not winning anything for 7 years. We have 2 billionaires, yet have no money to bring in top signings. What's the point of them? We might as well have just sold the shares to the fans. Now that would be a F-ing idea!!!!
To be fair though a lot of the ticket prices are the same as we'd be paying if we were still at Highbury. When we moved to the Emirates what were deemed to be similar seats between the two stadiums stayed the same price. In all honesty we've only had a couple of prices since we moved and one of those was because of the rise in VAT from 17.5% to 20% (****ing condems )I just think it's rediculous to pay £126 to watch a game of football and i honestly don't think the club can justify charging such an expensive price
Clearly some owners are better than others. Are Arsenals any better? I think we could do a lot worse than what we have. Yes Chelsea have won titles and no one can take this away from them but I just get the feeling that Roman does what ever the hell he wants, not for the fans but for his own satisfaction and personal gain. It goes back to the Romans play thing Chelsea get labelled with. Too many sackings of good staff and top quality managers to think that his actions have the fans best interests at heart. Ok so they won the Champions league with a man who replaced Villa Boas. At most prem clubs you would get to keep your job for another season (at least) but with Chelsea that does not mean a thing. It causes instability and there is only so many times a team can deal with transition within a time period ( as good as Chelsea are) before it has a negative affect throughout the club. These are not natural transitions they are forced which is the most worrying aspect if your a Chelsea fan or player.
Many years ago football clubs were the plaything of rich local businessmen.Today football clubs are the plaything of rich foreign businessmen.
Tbf i think the instability at the club had been caused just as much as Roman's craziness as it has been by giving too much powers too players. How many stories have come through of the players deciding managers fates by bitching.
I think Roman made a huge mistake sacking Mourinho. The Chavs loved him and he delivered, but Roman wanted 'Sexy' football. Since then he's been through a host of managers, none of which the players have respected as much as Mourinho and so the revolving door continues to spin. When you've got ****s like John Terry pulling the strings in the background, then you know you're in for a rocky ride. I just hope the Chavs create loads of instability with their booing and Chelsea slide down the table as a result
with FFP .. RA importance at the moment is not a key to chelsea anymore ..so will be interesting to see how this will develop and will Chelsea tolerate more crazy firing and forcing managers to play in X system with X players
Good call ... and maybe whelan at wigan ... they seem like a throw back to the old days of local rich fans owning clubs.
You can say the same for any club. Let's not pretend Arsenal are any different to Chelsea in this aspect. You pay £94 per Cat A game to watch a team that isn't even the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or possibly even 4th best in the league (highest prices in England) and with little invetsment in the team and best players sold every season with Wenger and Gazidis milking the bonuses. Fundamentally fans want success. Abramovich wants success, his aims are the same as ours. You can't say the same for Arsenal. Everybody is pulling in different directions.
You can get a lot cheaper tickets for Cat A games than £94 Our cheapest ticket price for a game is £25.50,how much is your cheapest ticket ?
