All fair enough mate.
I lost my first son Gordon, after four days when we could've prolonged the inevitable for weeks, perhaps months.

But sometime it's kinder to accept the tragedy and allow things to proceed peacefully with dignity ... just my opinion.
Top bloke

God bless you marra, RIP Gordon lad.

Nearly in tears here.

Sadly, this tik tok craze is a killer. I know a lad whose son died last year as a result of it. It's a version of the auto-asphyxiation thing, although it seems the younguns don't do it for the erotic buzz ( that killed Michael hutchence and David carradine) it's just the challenge to do it until you black out. Unfortunately they're doing it with ligatures which they can't loosen once they black out, and so they accidentally hang themselves ( because they don't intend to die)
However, I don't blame his family for their reluctance to turn him off, it's something that they are going through under extreme stress and pressure, and who knows if there's a 'right way' to react, each case is different, so it's unfair to judge them in my opinion. RIP young man, let's hope the publicity surrounding this case leads to sites like tik tok being stopped from peddling this poison.
Here here. RIP Archie

Let’s not get narky on this thread eh? I can understand the mother wanting to cling on to the faintest glimmer of hope. You’ve got to work through things. If you say ok switch off the life support, it’s like you’re the one killing him. If you go through the courts then it’s the court who decides, not the mother. I have nothing but sympathy for the family.

THIS 100%

I can see that point of view but a decision has surely already been made by the medical team who has the expertise and necessary tests to establish brain death or whatever. It must be terrible for the doctors to have to decide that a young child should be allowed to pass away. Asking a court to make that decision is involving more people who, in the vast majority of cases, will rely mainly on the evidence from the medical team who are in direct daily contact with the boy. I doubt many would reverse a decision based on 'evidence' gathered from the internet or third parties with vested interests. Taking every case to one court after another, simply to abdicate the family of having to make a decision, would be expensive, protracted and a slight on the medical people with very difficult positions imo.

Which court though, as in this case the uk, they were usurped by the European Court of Rights or whatever, should be left to the doctors, and if you are not happy with a doctors opinion, you seek another doctors opinion.

I don’t believe any doctors anywhere are going to tell you your child is brain dead if they aren’t, nobody would be happier than the same doctors if they thought they could bring a child back again.

Radio 2 Jeremy vine show on Friday gone quoted a man whose son was on life support and he got the call to go in and say goodbye, his boys body had basically started to shut down and die, but for whatever reason it didn't go as the doctors had forecast, the 'lad' is now in his 30's, and perfectly fit and healthy. I can't remember what his hospitalisation was for, but it'll be on iPlayer.

I remember that and there was also a case during Covid where a man was expected to die and didn't iirc.

But they were significantly different to this case as was proved when he passed away.

This is why the media have a responsibility to report the cold hard facts of this terrible case.

Archie was "brain stem dead" from around May time. The machines and medication have essentially kept his body alive and unfortunately there was no chance of recovery, no miracle cure, no chance his brain would recover.

People will read cases where people in a coma or on life support have recovered and put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5.

The media have a huge responsibility in the coming days and weeks

Still releasing statements like this:

"We want something good to come out of this tragedy and the horrendous experience we have been put through by the system," they added.

"No parent or family must go through this again.

"We have been forced to fight a relentless legal battle by the hospital trust while faced with an unimaginable tragedy.

"We were backed into a corner by the system, stripped of all our rights, and have had to fight for Archie's real 'best interests' and right to live with everything stacked against us.

"This has now happened too often to parents who do not want their critically-ill children to have life-support removed.

"There must be an investigation and inquiry through the proper channels on what has happened to Archie, and we will be calling for change."

They need the hard truth pointing out to them by the media and someone advising them. Of course a lot of parents don't want life support removed in this situation but that is the reason the NHS and hospital trusts have the power to make the final decision.

This is all so aggressive and divisive, it make the NHS look like the enemy ...

... and using phrases like 'critically ill' is greatly misleading.

Their child wasn't critically ill and it's wrong to make these claims publicly imo.

I look forward to a case when the tables are turned and the NHS takes a solicitor to court for malicious pursuance.

It's a truly awful situation. I can completey understand both sides of the argument, and as a parent I can empathise with wanting to hang on to any shred of hope, even if it's in the face of overwhelming evidence. It's truly a heartbreaking story

It is a terrible situation and I fully sympathise with the parents, but the press have a duty to inform the readers / listeners of the facts as harsh as they are.

The family cannot be allowed to spout off like they are doing without it being picked up on and corrected

Agree

I don't believe that's the case at all.

You're also totally wrong with your second claim.

I always post what I believe because I see many posters in real life so have to be able to justify what I say ...

... only sad internet heroes, like yourself, believe there's any merit is 'standing out' on a little chat forum.

Perhaps you could try sticking to the thread topic, now and again, instead of obsessing about a particular poster and continually stalking them round the threads.
Interesting.

They also think you're a liar. That's what one of them told me, anyway.

Which one and what was the lie?

Come on bigmouth, you're derailing yet another thread with your obsessive stalking so have some balls and spit it out along with your bile.

Posting your endless pathetic drivel is bad enough on football threads ...

... but hijacking the death of a child like this shows what a lowlife creep you really are.

You came on to have a go, thinking you'd grab the moral high ground, but most people have either agreed with me or accepted my honest opinions. When you lose the argument, as usual, you start with the personal comments and slurs, as usual. You need to learn to lose gracefully, it's amazing that it's taking you so long.

You're a very strange sick minded person.

I'm pretty sure we'd all do the same if it was our kids dying.

Harsh as usual. I'm sure you don't believe what you're writing and just like to always stand out.

@marcusblackcat

You don't need to trawl through loads of posts, it was his first on this thread as I clearly pointed out.

I don't care what response you wanted, or didn't want tbh, you've called me out and I've responded ... that's how chat forums work, you don't get to have a go then shut the conversation down.

And don't whine about being a Mod and having to moderate, no one's twisting your arm. If you're not here to moderate or 'babysit' as you put it, what's the point of you, you're just another poster.

Jesus seriously what is the point. I never denied that he starts it. I actually agree he does. But I know you target him in the same way too. Babysitting is for children, which is what you’re acting like here. Modding a civilised board is not the same thing. I called you both out and said I didn’t want anyone coming on blaming the other. He didn’t. You did. He accepted it and moved on. You’re still going on about it. Grow up ffs
