I'm starting to believe Binotto phones Horner to ask advice on strategy.

    Brilliant in the cool-down room.

Lewis: “They were on the hards???”

    Everyone else bursts out laughing

    “Yeah!”

I mean.... It's just laughable now... What on earth do they go over in the debriefs? Do they just pull the wine list out and mull it over?

It's over for them already.. Max and RBR are not going to make enough mistakes for them to catch up unless there is an unbelievable shake up after the summer break.

Ferrari have been historically hopeless, but this feels like a whole new level of incompetence. They must be taking an absolute caning in the Italian press.

Depends what the new rules do to the cars, I suspect Perez's recent drop in pace is because RBR are already making his car compliant to the new regs coming in after the break.

That's literally the only thing that can turn the tables. Guess we'll see how that plays out.

Charles said he asked to stay on the mediums, and doesn't understand why they pitted for the hards.

They put out a press release a few days after Silverstone still insisting that they had made the right calls and got unlucky.

I think the culture is just rotten. Everyone involved is far more concerned with avoiding blame than helping the team improve.

I think the worst that can happen is they go to 3rd worst, but with Ferrari being Ferrari it's not much of a big deal, unless Merc suddenly become no.1 and Max implodes because Lewis starts catching him.

Mercedes points haul this year is quite remarkable all things considered, isn’t it.

I’m so bored of the big 3 teams though now to be honest, really need some other teams to bridge the gap

Classic tortoise and the hare between Ferrari and Merc. There's no way Merc should be anywhere near them.

The merc performs on race day.

    It's thst simple.

The other 7 teams are miles off an absolute **** show of a car which says a lot about the standard of these cars. They all have the engine's so it really feels like the others are not stepping up enough with the budget cap that should be levelling the field.

The merc with a full fuel load seems to perform.much better than with light fuel and full on speed required in quali. Don't k ow what that is

Apart from Alpine, the others are all customers. At best 4 teams might be expected to be competing.

As for Le Clerc, the 2 driver errors and tyre strategies I think entirely account for the lead Verstappen has. Ferrari have thrown this season away, they could easily be in the hunt and with the changes coming could possibly be stretching a lead, but unfortunately that is not the story.
I think we know how the story will be at the end of the season.

Exactly... Even if RBR we're to lose a bit of pace, they'll still take points from the absolutely shambolic Scuderia. Red Bull are just a superior team all around and can actually think on their feet. Max starts p10, has a spin, and still wipes the floor with them

This whole weekend should have been a freebie for Ferrari, and they still manage to completely cock it up. Open the wallet, get Brawn back!

I wonder if the extra weight of fuel somehow stabilises the Merc and sort of acts as a damper?
