I've seen the term JCL used many times but have never got around to asking as simple question: What does JCL stand for? If it's any help I'm standing next to some-one who is wearing an "I'm with stupid" T-shirt <ok>

I did see a couple agree with him about purchases, but I was a bit strong there! I was trying to get a reaction out of Quackers using his tactics.

    Johnny Come Lately's, Dev.

Could be a good slogan for prophylactic sheaves.

Johnny Come Lately - arrived in the glory days.

They tend to be the ones who say things like "where we rightfully belong"

Everyone else tends to reminisce about matches they went to in the old 4th division.

To me, "Our Rightful Place" would be the Championship. I first started taking notice in 1976 - the first FA Cup final I actually sat and watched was Southampton v Man Utd.

From 1976-77 until the current season [37 inclusive] Pompey have spent 8 seasons in Tier 1, 21 in Tier 2, 6 in Tier 3 and 2 in Tier 4

Are you going to continue to back him whatever. He does seem to have a very poor record, yet seems to get away with it. How many more defeats before he has questions to answer?
You cant tell me your wage bill is lower that Walsall, Crewe, Exeter and yet they're above you. It seems to me that when he throw the players together it was ok, but since having time to work with them your getting worse. Surely it should be the other way round?

What if you lose the next 3 will you all still be behind him, making excuses for him?

I'm going to back him until a) 3 months after the club is sold,
    b) things have settled down behind the scenes,
    c) the players are on longer than 1 month contracts and
    d) he has finally brought in some players that he has actually chosen.

a - that gives anyone time to turn things around, any normal working person gets a 3 month probationary period extension to prove themselves able

b - I don't believe anyone who says when things are in turmoil that they give their best in any working situation

c - the players don't seem to be committing to tackles, if they get injured they don't get another month contract - I don't believe anyone will put themselves in a position of going off injured and unemployed

d - the current team probably only has 2 players who were on his A list, the rest seem to be off his B & C lists.

Given the lies that Appy has been fed by the previous owners, and the crap he's had to deal with since administration e.g. Selling all his players having to get in kids and 1 month mercenaries, and cheap loans, its amazing that he's still there. He has a good record and a good cv so could surely get a better more secure job if he wanted to. It speaks volumes for him as a person that he is still at Pompey. Given all that it's amazing that Pompey aren't bottom with zero points. He has worked a minor miracle to get 5 points with what he's had at his disposal, so imagine what he will do if things can be stabilised and he has a little money to spend?

    Stick with him.

In those terms, Duckie, I think that happens with lots of players at clubs.

They go there, they play fantastically well for 4/5 games, then the "honeymoon" period, as I've heard pundits refer to it as, is over. Their levels drop slightly for a few months. Then after a while, some will pick up again, whilst others drift away into reserve teams, before being sold.

It happens often- it's just at Pompey at the minute, every player is finishing the honeymoon period <ok>

Actually ducker, we have a wage bill of 1.3mil as dictated by our administrator. One of the lowest in the division. We also have the 2nd highest average home attendances.

    "Really ?

    How Superior of you"

You know these stripists 3rd eye, they think they are better than everyone else.

In reference to appy, tell me one manager who could do better in his circumstances.

Now duck off somewhere else and take your holier than thou attitude with you. Your boring and most of the time, even more boring.

    Excellent post Hermanator <ok>

Just to correct you on a minor spelling mistake though - With respect to the second word of your post, you need to replace the 'd' with an 'f'.

    Hope that helps <ok>
