A "sort of" apology on the face of it, but in fact a complete climb down on their part with a bit of "face saving" added in not to make it obvious..........

That is insufficient.

Am I stirring a bit here by questioning the necessity for such type of chants in any event given the managers and players representing our club on the pitch are to a large extent English?

Personally I cringe when I hear them at CCS.
Maybe time to move on to some old and new pro City chants with no anti English content?

Whilst I’m on it is there are necessity to berate the ref, who is only human and may take it personally and seek retribution on City?

I don't think you're stirring it Nin, there's a lot in that. However, the mentality is prehistoric (bit like Warnock <laugh>) and will only change with time - and I mean a long time, it isn't going to happen through some sort of Welsh Assembly instruction.

As far as berating the ref at games is concerned, I think you've got about as much chance of stopping that as I have winning the lottery - and I don't even buy a ticket......<laugh>

I go along with much of what you say Nin.

I also don't agree with slagging off officials for the sake of it. However some are down right incompetent. The best refs are those we don't notice and we get one or two per season. Then we get known clowns like Friend, Stroud etc. Thankfully we don't see much of Mike Dean now as he does mainly Prem games.

When decisions go against us it is natural to make a noise but when they are clearly wrong - see Burnley and Chelsea last season, then surely it is right we give the ref a hard time? Yes, they are human and we all make mistakes but when the "mistakes" regularly go against us an adverse reaction is inevitable.

I usually have a look at who we are getting and then review their history with us. We had one recently, Harrington I think, where we had only one win under his control from 6 or 7 games. Perhaps he has got it in for us, who knows, we could just be crap whenever he refs us, but the law of averages runs against those sort of stats.

I will now go and see who is in charge tonight.

It's your opinion dude and you are entitled to it....... I just don't agree with you because I like the nitty-gritty of calling a spade a spade and the referee a **** if he's clearly bias.

Obviously I'm in a minority but I also loved the violence and could never be ashamed of my past because I chose that avenue and didn't walk into it blindly.

Hey ho everyone is different..... Such is life

In fact it’s the lino that gets me riled more.
Half the time they haven’t a clue and guess who’s throw it is, and can’t see an offside or foul right in front them.

Have to confess that I cringe a bit too at the anti English chants and for pretty much the same reasons. We play in a predominantly English league and our squad is largely English. I wonder how they feel when we start the chants. Don't get me wrong, nothing would give me greater pleasure than to have a cracking academy that produces a squad of skillful welsh players. I too would like to hear more positive chanting in support of the team.

As for officials, well I think VAR is proving what a tough gig officiating is in the modern game. It doesn't help that players tyry to intimidate them. Players who generally make ten times as many mistakes in a game and get paid an awful lot more for it. That said, isn't the specsaver/lino thing part of the game?

Yes felt the same wednesday , time to move on with the chants , cringing hearing, always.... on the english side , very late 80s early 90s Bob bank anthem

At our next game with Reading, our lads need to start singing:

We know what we are
We know what we are
Sheep shagging bastards
We know what we are

That'll confuse them. They'll have to arrest our lads for being racist towards themselves.<doh>
When I first heard this I couldn’t believe what I was hearing! I didn’t know whether to roar with laughter or cringe!

Dont suppose it matters which way. If we dont sing it about ourselves, someone else will sing it about us.

To maintain the stereotype, despite living outside wales for 30+ years, working in business change, I have a hobby farm. Over 100 sheep, excluding the 70+ lambs born in the last 10 days (30 odd more expected).
Fortunately, none look like me.<cheers>

I want blood tests before I pay a penny.

I was born in Bristol (of course) but my dad was born in Wales - Barry to be precise (if you know the Halifax bank in Barry Holden Road that’s his ancestral home - they rent it from us to this day)
I grew up embracing both English and welsh identities - English first because of my birth, but welsh a close second. I only wanted Wales to lose if England were their opponents - or would be negatively affected by Wales winning.
All this took a huge knock when, after being made redundant in 2003, I attended UWIC university in Cardiff - and encountered anti-English sentiment in a scale that I’d never experienced before (nor since I might add). It was subtle, but absolutely there. When spoken, it was said with a twinkle in the eye and a smile, but it was there - and worst of all, it appeared to be ENCOURAGED by the municipal authorities. For example, the Manics were performing a concert whilst I was there and ‘As long as we beat the English’ posters were everywhere. I’m not ‘snowflake’ enough to call that racist and try and report it or anything - but I felt it was banter taken to its limits (not just the Manics posters, but my whole experience in Cardiff).
I admit that for a while I turned against my Welsh roots and wished them to fail in all sporting events. I never stooped to name calling or anything Neanderthal- but I was angry and upset for a few years.
I’ve mellowed again now, but I suppose where I’m going is that ones sense of nationality is sensitive and easily angered when stuff - more than likely intended as no more than harmless banter - is not once, but many many times rammed down ones throat.
I am back in love with my Welsh blood now btw - but I haven’t worked in Cardiff since 2004!!!!

Lots of points there R&W.
Mentioned several times on your board, i have an affinity with Bristol having worked there for 10 years, where I played most of my senior rugby, and being where my daughter was born (southmead hospital to be exact).
I get there has to be banter and you have to be passionate about your heritage, but as you say, and I agree, there has to be a line that isnt crossed.
Like you, I'm no delicate little flower. Probably overstepped the mark once or twice myself, and have definitely had to put up with my fair share of ****.

However, i also feel that PC has become a bit extreme. You amost have to guess and double guess how something will be taken before you say anything which I object to.

Hey ho, the sheep dont complain.:emoticon-0111-blush

Dude its completely insane and I've had it up to my kneck on being told what 2say and what 2think....... Could you imagine being told how to live life by Looney **** corrupt bigoted and downright evil scumbag politicians.....

Everything is upside down..... Look at the fking crackpot prime minister ffs how does it get to the point where the voting public are so fking stupid they vote for that fking prick

Britain is a free country they say....sorry I must have missed that period when smashed on magic mushrooms
I'll answer this .....because our only other choice in tactical voting would have been to vote for a terrorist loving russian c0ck sucking basketcase

I have to admit I was in my feet screaming at that useless ref tonight. What was that booking for Richards and their winger all about? Also what was was he doing talking to the managers about 2nd half?
He made me steam tonight:emoticon-0130-devil
