Or they’ve hocked the land to release some capital and will pay rent on it instead. That said it’s probably a load of tosh.

This is what I was thinking.

The land may have been put up as security against some of Short's debt or something, similar to the thread about the Stadium and the fact that there's a charge over that.

As has been said, selling the actual site is almost pointless.

He would be a lunatic to sell it. The Club's infrastructure is the main sellable attraction.
Still wouldn't put it past him though. He thinks we should be a top7 prem side, and he sells the training ground to achieve that

Southtyneside Mbc are actively looking for land suitable for housing and produced a map of the borough where they identified green. Orange and red areas for development, the areas corresponding to suitable now, likely to be soon or not suitable. Not sure where AOL fitted as I was more concerned about the school in front of our house This was marked orange but is now earmarked for a small estate. I believe they are also looking at green belt areas - nothing is sacred.

I don't have any faith in green belt land being safe because the area across the road from my house is green belt and it hasn't stopped them from building on it.

Greenbelt land gets built on all the time mate, got to take each site on it's own merit. Some greenbelt land will never ever be built on so long as the system is in place, where as over sites provision to preserve can free it to build on. The site AOL on has restrictions which would make building homes on a very risky business plan with small margins

IF there was a snowball's chance in Hell of the restrictions on this land being lifted, I very much doubt that it would be sold.

This would though look like a goodie in any sales pitch for the Club.

As things stand though the only possible purchaser who could use the facility is NUFC.
