With respect, Newcastle United spent most of the nineties rewriting the rule book on being a team for the neutral.

Did nowt tangible for the club's actual fans and since then most 'neutrals' (with chronic short-term footballing memory) haven't had a decent word to say about NUFC... so they can swivel!

Yes, terrible spectacle as a match but I'll take a few more of them if it means lifting the cup...

I really fancy Spurs against Inter to be honest. Should be a more entertaining spectacle than our game at least. Who knows, maybe we could face one of them in the quarters...?<whistle>

Oh, sorry, you want me to tell you?

OK, I think it will start goalless and either stay like that, or not.

Can anyone just explain Spurs to me? I must be missing something but how do they do it, what is so good about Spurs? They really fck me off because I see so much parity with us, yet so little of the same measures applied. They sit 3rd...but how? Don't they count Defoe, Dawson, Assou-Ekotto and Parker among their best XI? Am I just blindly anti-Spurs?

They have Bale. Without him they're pretty average.

Spurs aren't a one-man team. It's just that without Bale they would be a mid-table one...

I haven't read the whole thread so sorry if I'm repeating what's already been said.

That pitch was dreadful. Because it doesn't cut up and have to grow under the correct conditions like a normal pitch the one thing I was expect from a plastic pitch is that it would be flat and smooth as a bowling green. The ball tonight was bobbling around like nobodies business. Both sets of players seemed to be dancing around on it like bambi on ice.

As far as the result is concerned I'd have taken 0-0 at the start of the game if you'd have given it to me.
