Now that the blackbird has gone into temporary retirement the red red robin has taken over, and is serenading us with his old sweet song. You can't beat nature.
To change the subject slightly... I quite fancy the notion of reviving that old tradition of having heads stuck on Traitor's Gate at the Tower of London. Nothing like a juicy traitor's head to keep the ravens interested. Perhaps Jihadi Jack could oblige if he ever comes back over - that would be poetic justice, wouldn't it. Or those MP's who decide to betray the people who won them their seat by switching parties in the house of commons. That shouldn't even be allowed. If they can't stay with the party they were elected to represent they should resign as MP's altogether, not just swap sides.
MP's get hot under the collar whenever an MP from their own party does this, and they rightly call for a byelection. However when someone crosses the floor to join their own party they are highly delighted. Just another example of how hypocrisy is hardwired into the human DNA. So is lying. There was a very interesting study of this recently, which showed that we are much better at lying than spotting the lies of others. Other more intelligent primates are skillful liars too. For me, the only problem comes when people start to believe their own lies, or think they can change the truth by repeating the same lie over and over again, as Goebbals recommended.
