Well done to England for winning the 50 over Cricket World Cup.

I watched most of the game. With England needing 9 runs from the last 3 balls I thought NZ had it won, but a bizarre fluke saw England run 2 and then get an accidental deflection off the bat while the batsman was diving into his crease - the deflection ran to the boundary for 4 so it was a total of 6 runs from that ball, by the laws of cricket. That left Engand needing just 3 to win with 2 balls left.

Even then the match was eventually tied and a 'Super Over' was required, which England just about won.

Got to feel for NZ though. They will never get closer to being World Champions only to have near certain victory snatched away by a fluke deflection.

It was a harsh way to lose a final. Watching the antics of a footballer, it is always great to see that cricketers know how to behave.

That will go down as The Greatest Cricket Final of All Time. Amazing that Federer and Djokovic were also battling out a classic which was decided at about the same time.

Steve Bruce has set himself up as Mike Ashley's fall guy at Newcastle. Ashley is just as big a cvnt as Douchatelet.

Bruce will get no honeymoon period with Newcastle fans. But they will have to suffer lots more of Jim White on the radio saying "Newcastle fans I love your Club, I really do. But you've got to get behind your manager and your team..." etc. :emoticon-0119-puke:

It often goes badly when this happens. The smart money goes on Newcastle for the drop; Ashley is selling his best players and so far has not bought anyone in to replace them.

Is the Earth flat or round?

Did the Americans land on the moon in 1969?

Saw an open-air comedy version of Wuthering Heights in Oxford. Reminded me of the unique talent that was Dave Allen. Wonderful man.

I caught his live stand up show in London back in the eighties - laughed until I physically couldn't any more.

Sky's Super 6 has a two million jackpot this weekend if enough people play.... not enough to buy Charlton but may be enough to buy Kilmarnock <ok>

Feels a bit odd for the football season to be starting at the same time as an Ashes series. Ashes series' used to be about every 4 years, the Aussies would arrive in spring, play a couple of county games,, an MCC eleven, then proceed at a leisurely pace, with John Arlott or Brian Johnson commentating, while eating a cake. Nahadays TV milks any sport to the nth degree, and it doesn't feel quite right.

    @ForestHillBilly

This post is about Kilmarnock, so I thought it best to put it on the not football related thread.

I watched some of the Killie v Rangers game yesterday.

Joe Aribo played ...and must have had a few negative thoughts.

That awful plastic pitch for starters, completely ruins the game before it has started. Why does the SPL allow them ?

The “crowd” ....two sides of the ground full of Rangers...two sides of the ground empty, with Killie fans sparsely dotted around like pigeon droppings.

I still think Aribo’s agent did him a very bad turn.

A lot of fans don't go when we play the ugly sisters, and if you saw the scenes at the end when the Rangers fans broke the roof of the disabled section you can understand why. At the end of last season Steve Clarke only gave the Rangers one end, and we had a crowd of 11,000.

I could probably come up with something.
A copy & paste job would be easiest, but if it's the actual way the CAFC website lays out the calendar that you don't like then that won't help you much...
If you have another format in mind (a simple list or something else) let me know.
