Just reading through the Sundays and I came across a rather disturbing piece of ‘Public Information” from 1983 showing, on a map, the effects of a Hydrogen Bomb dropping on Queens Gardens. I was working at Goodfellows at the time and living down Bon Accord Road in Hessle.

I don’t recall getting/seeing it - does anyone else?

Scary times of course, and numerous books are out detailing how close we came to Armageddon around this time.

Interestingly (?) next Saturday marks the date when the Berlin Wall will have been down longer than it was up.

I think it will be closed for the winter now, but the bunker at Holmpton near Wid is well worth a visit when open. Very interesting place and knowledgeable curators.

Go and have a look at the bunker at RAF Holmpton. They still have the UK map showing who was going to get air/ground bombs. Hull was up for a bloody good pasting.
