1For. Recently we've been told that if you're double jabbed we don't have to quarantine when returning from holiday. Know you were 'reticent' about the vaccine but also keen to get abroad if able. Did you reluctantly decide to get jabbed ?
I think you’ll find that the government is only THINKING about relaxing that rule RP, to keep the press quiet. In reality, the rule will stay until the EU holiday countries give in to Merkel and force Brits to isolate. We might see the rule relaxed then - and BJ can blame the EU!! The government want people spending their holiday money in the UK not taking it abroad. £3000+ for a week in a caravan in St Ives last I heard……. It’s a way of boosting the economy - a tiny consolation for all the fiscal damage that Covid has caused.
I have had to cancel my 2 weeks in ASSYNT [ nw Scotland ] for april/may … the june 2 weeks and last week, cancelled the next 2-3 weeks I usually go up for July into August .. October 2 weeks not booked yet usually weeks 2/3 and fourth … nickerless changing rules /timing/ etc note in 2015 I was in Scotland 3rd to 20th with about 10kg of ripe cherries from my tree, the last picking so cherries were ripe about mid June! this year cherries are about 2 -3 weeks from being picked!!! and maybe just 1-2kgs.. past 5 years never less than 10kgs …. what a terrible spring 2021, last season lock down sunshine warm peeps could get out into gardens etc how lucky we were!
The garden and greenhouse are well behind thanks to a cold Spring and a cold (although dry) May Tomatoes and chillies in the greenhouse that were planted in April are just starting to form now, so are several weeks behind where they should be. Will have to hope for a mild Autumn to that things fully grow and ripen. On the plus side it looks like a bumper year for my Apples. Must have at least 200 on the tree, but Pears are not doing so well.
Apples last year were unbelievable..still have about 50 in the freezer.. I have a load of mushroom stackable trays... blue ones that go to catering places you can get 15 to eighteen 70 to 80mm + in each had 12 trays plus all those I ate or froze down.. this year... about half as many .. last week about 30 on floor! Blackcurrants being picked off by pigeons good crop just not quite ripe to beat the pigeons. gooseberries as always loads about 5 kgs Strawberries small sweet but only about 20 so far. to add insult to injury the pigeon has nested in the accia tree 7foot from ground you can get your head to about 2ft from it and it just sits there … I do love pigeon pie!

Our best laid plans of a family get together in the Okanagan look like they could be scuppered by the raging forest fires in that area of Canada. Currently it is the district with the most fires and although our trip doesn't start until August 12th the total lack of rain in the forecast for the next few weeks offers very little in the way of relief. Time will tell us our fate and let's hope we can get relief from all of the troubles in our world.
Brilliant decision, I spent many a year as a kid at Burton Bradstock, Bridport and West Bay, my parents had a caravan there in the 60's and 70's, fantastic area, I loved it, next to Cornwall.
