Off Topic Anyone here have anything against honest manual labour? (OT)

  1. I must admit, 37.5 hours a week sitting at a desk in front of a computer was tedious and boring. I like the idea of a labour job because i wont need to go out jogging anymore.

That's why i've considered manual labour for some type, because it keeps you fit.

It may not be what you're implying but it's what you're saying

I have been working in PC world for a while now..they're all ****ing morons to put it bluntly. But they're all dead nice and cheerful people, just happy to be in work. I'm only there while I'm in college studying ICT level 3 and tbh I love it there <laugh> It feels like my day off from college when I can meet up with mates, and get paid! That isn't manual labour mind..

What I'm trying to say I suppose is: a job is a mother ****ing job. I know people like NUFCtom who felt since they got 11 A*'s they where too good for some certain jobs, and that's a terrible terrible attitude to have. Like I've been told for years, you walk in show them your GCSE's then when they ask "Experience?" and you can't offer them anything, you're not getting that job. So go for it if you find it appealing. Might have a laugh and get paid <ok>

Another point what pisses me the **** off is when they ask "What experience do you have in this role?" what can you answer?! "Well none..because I'm here not even in my 20's asking for this ****ing job so you can give me experience you mother ****ing morons!!!!" (that's me in my mind) and what actually comes out is "Well none as of yet, but I'm prepared to learn! :D" <laugh>

I combine manual labour with IT by ferociously ****ing as I type (and yes, that is including right now <ok>).

Unless you have great job satisfaction I'd always say take the best money.

  5. And also, i've been to my dads work place a few times and they talk about football and have some good, old fashioned crack. You can swear and say **** all, as along as it's not infront of a client. In an office environment you **** yourself when ever you tell a joke and a lot of people are boring as ****.

Another slight misconception. I don't have an office job per se, but outside of the lectures (obviously) our staff room is one of the best places i've ever worked in for banter etc, and i've had a lot of labour based jobs.

You should stop caring what other people think and just do what you want, if your girlfriend's parents don't like you because you do manual labour then that's their problem for being monumental ****s <ok>

  11. But it's mainly because i care what some people around me think, my family wouldn't care because my dad was a labourer for ages up until the last few years when he became a manager.

But i keep on thinking about that scenario and there being an awkward silence and look of disappointment on my future girlfriend's parents face when i tell them what i do.

I've got no probs with it. I personally didn't like office type work that much.

Not saying I thought the work was below me, was just happy to have a job and money at the end of the day!

Know what you mean about the last bit, that's why I was chuffed to get the job cause now I've got proper work experience.

If she cannot accept you because of your job then don't go out with her

GCSE's really don't mean anything these days, well not in terms of getting a decent job anyway, they are just a platform to get to College
