Yeah the role was for a recruitment consultant.I have 5 years of sales experience in various sectors and was very good at it. Haven't done it for 3 years though as I though the grass would be greener, turns out the grass is pish stained and yellow/brown <laugh>. Just need to get my bullshit head back on and sell sell sell if I get the job!!!

<laugh> Well good luck mate. I have a mate who does it and he really enjoys the atmosphere and the people he works with. Professional and fun apparently!

I say bullshit in the loosest meaning of the word. Every good salesman bends the truth to an extent now and again!!!

I was furious with an agency a few months back.

Yes, I was interested in the job and had asked to be put forward for interview but the agency phoned the MD and asked for a reference; before the interview??

I was close to taking a taxi to their offices and strangling the bugger for the duress he caused.

If you work for a good company you will be ok. Thing is, the skills shortage is no more as employers know there are lots of grads coming through who can do the work at a lower pay. Stick with it and when you move up, things get better :).

That is against employment law for an agency to do that, that is one of the things that was covered at the assessment day I attended.

Take the job. A job is a job and you'll find your next job a lot easier to come by if you are employed, regardless of how different the jobs are. Skills are transferable across different jobs. Believe me I work in construction in a management position and you'll enjoy a manual labour job. The craic out on site is fantastic and it'll keep you fit. I still do the odd bit of time on site as do most of our management. Plus you'll learn a hell of a lot about working as a team etc.

Tash- what a ****e thread! - do the hard day's graft and then you'll see what real work is like.
It may bulk up your frame over time too...

  14. ffs, read the comments before calling me a dick head people. I explained that i didn't mean that all labourers are dumb, i never meant that. Doesn't matter. Can't be arsed trying to reason with people who have missed the discussion.

Have you worked out how you will explain to a prospective employer why there is a large gap in your employment history?

Employer: So, what have you done for the last 'X' months?

If you mention that you've turned down work, they will question why.

I'll be honest tash mate. you have been fool hardy. youy should just take the job see how it goes and get some bread in your pocket. if its not for you then you can always look for another job as its easier to find work when you're already employed oddly. better to be paying your way in the long run.
