It was more to do with skint clubs in League One and Two, who couldn't name seven subs and thought that the clubs that could, were getting an unfair advantage.

They should at least exempt the Championship.

The championship teams should definitely be allowed to name 7 subs! I bet Portsmouth voted for 5 subs!

spot on and the official reason given by the F.L.

the majority of championship clubs wanted to keep the 7 subs rule and should have stayed for our league. ffs, it does for both cup competitions. you cannot make it up.

The next debate is going to be artificial pitches, quite a few League 1 & 2 clubs are pushing for it

48 of the 72 league clubs voted for it, some of the Championship clubs must have been amongst them, I can't see that it would be just the 24 Championship clubs that voted against.

Cannot see the logic in championship clubs voting in favour

Pompey probably did, maybe the likes of Peterborough or Coventry who have small squads and no obvious mass of emerging talents in their youth teams to worry about. That leaves a few places for the likes of Charlton, Sheff Utd etc to vote in favour of 7 subs which i expect they did as it offers them a decent advantage as they have larger squads than the teams in their league

they didn't. the vote was as one collective of the 72 F.L. clubs But IMO, it should have been league by league especially as the cups are still 7 subs. crazy.

Sven said back in august that it was clubs CEO's that had voted and very few managers had had a say in it.

There shouldn't have been a vote. The League should have just set out the rules. 7 subs in the Championship where squads are bigger. 5 in Legaues One and Two so they can carry less players and be competitive.

there has never been a stipulation that says you HAVE to name 7 subs. in fact i dont think you have to name 1 if clubs dont want to. but the F.L. being the F.L. i would suggest that they wanted it througout the league hence why the majority vote won the day.

I don't think there should have been, I would have kept it all the same and just told teams that can't to put what they can on the bench, it's not a great deal bigger advantage as your still just got the option of changing three players, but seen as they were forcing a vote they should have gone league by league
