I remember when I lived in Sheffield, I went to watch us play Sheff Utd & Wednesday, Donny, Scvnthorpe, Florists and Derby and only spent more than £20 when I went to Nottingham and Derby...

The 2 Sheffield clubs were only £5 or £10 each and I got in at Scvnthorpe as an under 16 for £3 <yikes> so I could watch 4 or 5 away matches for the price of one home game.. which is where I caught the bug for an away day jaunt to watch the Town <ok>

I have a soft spot for Doncaster and especially Scunthorpe, I've always enjoyed going to those two in particular.

Haven't returned to England since I've been in San Diego (2 and a half years)
I miss match days like hell though.

Doncaster a **** hole? It's a lovely place Warky. You should check out the Yorkshire Wildlife Park there. I really like going to both because they're quite small grounds, close to the pitch, they're both great clubs that try to play football in the right way, the fans and welcome and pies are great, car parking is easy, tickets are cheap. Need I go on?

At least half the grounds in the Championship are half-empty stadiums where there are Town fans spread out in the away section and thousands of empty seats surrounding and the home fans are quiet at best, it doesn't make for such a great experience.

Well however many of us are going lets all have a good time cos theres no more football until August! I know it works out expensive thats why we share a car and dont go on the bus, but theres something about being amongst the Town travelling support thats hard to beat and too good to miss. By the way jonny I saw your uncle John break the race record twice in one night down at Rayleigh Weir Stadium in about 1972. Great days indeed.

This. I instantly feel at home chatting to anyone. The Ipswich and Suffolk accent are the best sound on planet Earth!

For once we are agreed <ok>

I lost my Suffolk accent many years ago but when I speak to my family back in Ipswich the old accent just comes back! I'm feeling really home sick just now!

I don't go back nearly as far but remember great nights watching the witches back in the 90's <ok>

Both my mum and dad used to be huge fans and followed my great uncle Tony 'shrimp' Davey around who used to ride for witches..

I've experienced some great nights down at Foxhall back in the 70s/80s and early 90s when my Uncle John Louis and then his Son Chris were riding. The Witches were just awesome back then and I realy hope that the Witches as well as ITFC once again hit the heights in the top league soon!

No I wasnt there that night jonny but his name amongst Speedway fans is known all over Europe. Ive not been to Turf Moor either so thats a new experience for me too and if theyre are still desperate for points it could be a cracker. Hampy I couldnt agree with you more, its brilliant to be in with the ol booys and hear the banter, great stuff.

    Not for me.

12.45 is a ridiculous time for these games, smacks of bowing down to skytv........... have them at 3 and let the tv company work around us. Fed up of football fans being taken for a ride.

I live in Bristol, and it's a long way to go for essentially a meaningless game. I do love Town, however £27 plus petrol etc etc being very unlikely to find someone else fancying being stuck in a car with me for 7 hours for that haha, unlikely!

Hats off to everyone who does go.

I hope championship tickets come down to a more sensible figure too. We're charging Brum £20-£25, and their bringing 1800. When we charge teams between £31- £34, fans quite rightly don't bother!
