Walton makes brilliant save! Lets keep this lead till the break. Gaffer enjoying his solo commentary.
See I brought you some luck popping up and predicting a score. Where is @Evesham I’m sure I can make a few quid with this theory
What a performance. Smash and grab. If we were away from home that would've been the perfect performance. Walton our no.1 please. So much more calming for everyone involved. Not particularly brilliant on the ball but Burns and Hutchinsons work off the ball was outstanding today. Delap outstanding performance. Broadhead needs to play ahead of Szmodics, has some real class on the ball. These league 1 boys just keep on delivering
A brilliant result and a good performance against a side that could’ve gone second had they won. My voice is absolutely gone - best atmosphere of the season for me at Portman Road. Probably not surprising as we won, but the crowd were in great voice throughout. Firstly, take a bow Liam Delap. A one man battering ram who put in probably the best individual attacking performance of our season. A goal, a well crafted assist, and a constant menace on the counter. Single-handedly drove us forward. He was supported by two great performances from Hutchinson and Broadhead. Omari was well up for that one against his former side. Didn’t let the occasion get to him. He showed better decision making on the ball and took his goal well. Broadhead was always a threat running at defenders and pinging in diagonals to Delap. Possibly played himself into a first team spot. Defensively, we were solid overall. Walton needs to be our main starter. Yes - his long passing was often inaccurate, but it took the sting out of Chelsea’s attacks. A few brilliant saves, including one to tip over Palmer’s effort. I think the defence looked a lot more settled with him behind them. Start him again Kieran please! I questioned why Burgess didn’t start last week, but the centre back combination of O’Shea, Woolfenden, and Greaves worked really well again, as it did against Arsenal. Three at the back might work every week if it makes us harder to score against. Any of those three centre-backs would feel hard done by if they get dropped after back-to-back strong performances against two of the best sides in the country. Shout out again to Cajuste. If we do stay up and get him for £10 million - that’s absolute daylight robbery in this market. He stepped up and played us out of trouble on several occasions, looks a real class act. Can’t really nitpick at anything tonight. Thought it was a positive team performance and credit where credit is due. Hopefully that gets the winless home record monkey off our back.
Tremendous performance and great atmosphere.KMc has shown great tactics over the last two games, just what we need against the top sides, disciplined defending in depth then catch them on the break. It reminds me a bit of when he first took the helm and his priority was to make us difficult to beat.
My theory is that somebody different needs to do the pre-match thread each game. Three wins this season came after me, Evesham, and Big Al did a match thread after a period without doing one. Gaffer, SD, ptc, Yorkie, fieldmarshall, Top Bunk, Stretchy, Royston, Mikey … Warky - where are you Warky? … go on lads, decide amongst yourselves
I'm gonna nitpick 1 thing, he played against outstanding players tonight who's passing and movement are superb but Greaves positioning still worries me, he was caught out a few times tonight. I feel for Burgess if he isn't injured, he shades it for me over Greaves at the moment.
I was thinking exactly this, a bit of a back to basics the past couple of games like what he did when he first took over. I'd take that until the end of the season if we stay up and would give us something to build on the next season.
