Agreed, so why are a lot of you stinking the place out with your arrogance after a good run in the league?
Look at who you have played in March, West Brom (lost), Birmingham (win), Stoke (win), Napoli (win), Leicester (win), City (lost), Spurs (draw), Benfica (win). Stoke are poo away from home. The only stand out result was against Napoli and they can't defend. I don't see any reason for optimism. Compare what you have done to us, we've played and beaten top teams - hence our optimism.
We got it RIGHT actually - it is YOU lot that got it wrong ! Wenger made BIG mistakes and this season you can see that what we have all been saying a) came to fruition and b) Wenger has tried to fix. We eroded squad quality, we got hammered 8-2 by Man U. WE bought players, some panic buys, others not, the ship steadied. We went through another blip in form the end of which coincided with us playing Walcott in a different way and moving the ball quicker as well as getting players back from injury. These tactical tweaks are what people have been asking for for ages. Also Wenger making substitutions far earlier than before, giving players 30 mins instead of 10 or 15 mins. Humble pie ? On the contrary - we were right all along.
I don't think that much has changed really. Having real full-backs, having the new players settled in, and playing Rosicky over Ramsey are the biggest changes. 2 of those things are outside of Wenger's control if we're starting from the beginning of the season (you could argue that he should have bought earlier in the summer).
You're far more direct in your play. Rather playing keep away with the ball you actually seem to be aiming to get it ball near the goal.
A lot of that is because we now have fit full backs, which gives us greater attacking options, as they push forward, as well as meaning that our wingers get more space and have to stay back far less.
No thats not what it is. All the players are looking to get the ball forward quicker. When Santos and Sagna were fit previously we didn't play this way, there is a definite change in our style. Rosicky and Walcott being the 2 obvious changes, but Song and Arteta have been moving the ball forward quicker and Ramsey when he came on against Spurs did it - when Ramsey is usually the biggest culprit in not passing the ball quickly.
Even a guy with full on cataracts can see that we have altered the way we play. The main reason for it is to get results, and thats exactly what it's done.
It's hard to move the ball forward quickly if there is no-one pushing on from full-back. Ramsey has been guilty during our worst moments of trying to move the ball on too quickly with his stupid flicks and ridiculous passes. You disagree (as always), but in my opinion a huge part of it, is because we have fit full-backs. Also interesting that both bad spells were before Arteta had settled and then when he was injured...
Disagreeing is healthy. It is amazing how people see things in such a different way though, wouldn't life be dull if people were never challenged about what they say and think ? I don't think the full backs are the reason we are playing more direct. You can look at last season, we had fit full backs but didn't play the ball forward quickly. There has been a definite change in tactic. It's been one of our biggest criticisms, we have meaningless possession, we don't go anywhere. This is why the likes of Chelsea and Man U were hard for us to beat - we'd pass pass pass and they would sit back and hit us on the break.
I agree that disagreeing is healthy and normal. (is that allowed?) I also agree that we are moving the ball forward quicker, but believe that injuries prevented us playing the people who could make this happen. Interesting stat: Arsenal's win percentage with Sagna in the team is 64% whereas without Sagna in the team, it's 55%. I believe it's much higher with Arteta than without him, but can't find those details at the mo.
Found it: Arsenal have won a grand total of 0% without Arteta in the league whilst they have won 75% with him. http://justarsenal.com/mikel-arteta-better-than-fabregas/13198
ifs and buts to suit your own agendas it is quite touching how Goons and Chavs have become good buddies for some reason
You had fullbacks at the start of the season and last season, it's helped you defensively and to an extent in attack since you got the fullbacks but you haven't played this direct for years.
Sagna is quality, he will always be missed. Since he has come back, our defence has improved immensely. Also him and Walcott play so well together and Walcott seems a lot more comfortable now. Sagna is one of my favourite players, he is quiet, gets on with his job with minimal fuss and is squeeky clean!
No running out of steam mate, we have finally hit form and playing the best football in ages. We have injured players back and a rejuvinated Rosicky pulling the strings. Nothing holding us back...
The change is down to Rosicky in my opinion. He has increased the speed in our play by just looking to run at people from the middle. He is always busy and is looking to move the game on. Ramsey tried to do it but his passing was not as sharp or as accurate as Rosicky, also Rosicky is a lot faster.
Welcome to our world Yid Vicious. Now you see what we have to put up with during debates - people refuse to look facts in the face. I know its just opinions but some opinions don't add up, they don't make sense, I'd like to see Magic Man's response to what you wrote.
