All I know is right now our midfield are not protecting the back four. If M'Villa's job will be to screen the defence that would be fantastic because he has the speed of thought and passing ability to launch attacks, like a deep lying playmaker - Alonso-ish but with more steel !!!
You see BaDM, my vote for you in the end of season awards was well deserved, your witty comments always make me smile !!
I would counter your counter to my counter by saying that.... no only joking There are a few Song videos I could have used - as many as M'Vila ones. I do think M'Vila is a better player, but by how much? Is it enough to make a real difference to our chances of winning thr league - I am not so sure, as I think the bigger impact would come from changing the way our midfield operates.
As much as I have argued about our squad this season I am actually more inclined to say we are not that far off having a winning squad. I think that what M'Villa would bring to our game is something we need, we need technically good players, quick thinking, good passers, strong, M'Villa fits this mould perfectly and it is players of this quality we need to have throughout our team. Any additions of this ilk are, in my mind, necessary - even if they bring a marginal improvement - if we improve all areas of the pitch we will be back on top.
M'Villa would be a good addition. Even if you think he's worse than Song we've been moaning about depth, so no matter how you see it he's a good buy
Except you were talking about this year Check the table. We never did quite work out what you were talking about though. One minute it was not far off winning the league, then it was not far off top 4, then it was not far off beating Bolton, then it was not far off hitting the post... it really was funny listening to you. You were all over the place
Yep , thats about what we need - they key being the defensive coach (with a remit to own that side of the coaching, because Wenger doesnt know what he is doing)
You do make me laugh with your assumptions, which I might add are yours to take responsibility for. I've maintained that we've never been that far off, but I've never said we were not far off from winning the league. In the Bolton game, when we hit the woodwork twice, we were not far off from winning it. When we were struggling, we were not far off from turning it around to challenge for top 4, Which has been proven as being right. I'm not sure when you think I said we were 'not far off from hitting the post' ? Perhaps you can provide me with a quote, because I claim you're talking ****e
Yeah sure, like we didnt understand your comment that Ramsey was the player of the season, or you knew more about football than George Graham
Right, I didn't say those things ? I said that I'd give player of the season to Ramsey in a tounge in cheek manner, which was demonstrated when I said 'In all honestly I'd give it to Szczesny' And I said that GG didn't know what he was talking about when he said we should sell Walcott, I didn't say that I knew more than him at all. You're talking bollocks, and that's why I'm pulling you up for doing so
Anyone else still agree with the OP that we dont need Yann M'Vila? Coquelin proved me right yesterday that although talented he isnt there yet and the gaping holes left by song proves we need a player like M'Vila to steady the ship when under pressure. I was shocked (well not really) that we allow players to run through the middle of our team without any challeges.
