I think it's time we stopped waiting for our players to become class i.e. Frimpong and Coquelin. We've done it in the past with Denilson, Diaby, Djourou. playing them and hoping they'd suddenly turn the corner. I'm not saying I doubt Frimpong and Coquelin but a) Frimpong is injured for a long time and b) they're both not ready for consistent football anyway. It's time we made things happen instead of waiting for things to click into gear. For that reason alone, I support signing M'Vila or anyone that could help secure the team for the here and now, not for 3 years down the line.
Yep, you. Only this time it's accurate Now, stop your silly responses to legitimate questions and get back on topic. It's getting boring hearing your constant sniping.
Agreed I no longer think we have the luxury of waiting for players to come good. We need players who are proven NOW.
I agree with this - players now, not for 3 years time. Regardless of who we bring in, that sentiment seems right given the number of failed "players with potential" we've signed.
Admittedly i did initially wonder why we were interested in M'Villa because we already had song and coquelin and frimpong but i now realise that M'Villa is much more than simply a defensive midfielder. He can both defend and attack and we do need another commanding player in midfield at times because then both song and m'villa can alternate positions and defend and attack. M'Villa is very good on the ball as is song and i feel that we would win the midfield battle more with m'villa in our team especially as we do not know when wilshere will be back fit.
It was neither a question to you or a snipe, you seem determined to make a fool of yourself Now stay on topic, for the sake of everyone who has something worthwhile to contribute
I think with Podolski we are now sorted in attack (assuming we keep RVP). We now have RVP, Pod, and Campbell may well get a permit. Add in the fact Walcott can play up front, and given our formation, we do seem to have enough.
We need three striker to remain competitive IMO and I don't think Campbell Is ready yet as he has rarely played for lorient up until the last two to three games.
Also, what's stopping Jack from being the creative midfielder in a 3 man midfield? Song-M'Vila-Wilshere or Arteta-M'vila-Wilshere. Song will probably be going to the ACON in December so signing M'Vila gives us options. I do agree that we need a better back-up striker though, CB. But we're in a sticky situation. Do we assume that RVP will stay in this godly form for another year/stay injury-free? If so, what striker, that's still good enough to score 10 goals a season, would want to play second fiddle and be undermined? Or maybe we've already signed the back-up striker - Podolski?
I think we're looking a lot stronger up front now with Pod. I hope Campbell gets his work permit, he looks really good and I think he'd offer us another dynamic. I'd much rather see us concentrate on trying to secure another Midfield player.
Anyway in terms of M'Vila I am still not convinced he would be sufficiently better than what we have today. I know some dont rate Song highly, but is M'Vila so much better that we would start conceding far less goals, or creating more - or is the real problem our system of play? I think we need a midfield trio who are intelligent enough and drilled enough to cover for each other - when one goes the others are in position and alert enough to cover danger - instead of us emptying our whole midfield and leaving huge spaces betwee the mid 3 and the back 4. This is about training, discipline and tactics. We have Arteta, Wilshere, Song, Rosicky, Diaby, Coquelin, Frimpong, OXO, and Ramsey who can all play in the middle and if they stopped all being so so gung ho at the same time we might find we concede less goals. We may even be a lot better off if Wenger told Kos and TV not to ramage forward and leave huge spaces behind them. Against Norwich at 3-2 up, Kos picked up the ball layed it off, and sprinted towards the Norwich penalty area. We lost the ball and he had to chase back from the edge of their box. I actually think the squad we have right now could challenge for the title if they were organised in the correct way - which is why i place a lot of the blame for our failures on the coaching staff. The only caveat I would place on that is the character of the players we have now - we dont know whether the coaching staff are trying their best to motivate the players but can't because the players just dont have it in them, or whether the mental aspects of the game are just not focused on enough. As for needing another midfielder - perhaps - but just imagine the difference in our team this season if you replaced Ramsey with Wilshere. Wilshere - Song - Rosicky as opposed to carrying Ramsey all season. Huge difference.
I think money bags Citeh will dominate the league forever now to be honest so expect them to come in for him.
i believe he will go to man city but as for them dominating not sure about that but they'll certainly be a force for the forseeable future and definitely contest for the league.
I would counter your counter by saying thats Song's best assists over his career at Arsenal, no ??? M'Villa's video is his passing in ONE GAME !!! M'Villa is quicker moving the ball and shows more urgency in his play.
