No, I am most certainly not more excited. I am holding exactly the same level of excitement as of seeing the great nation of "Engerland", also known as the great area of London and it's surrounding consituencies (occasionally stretching as far north as Liverpool should Stevie G's legs be holding up, so we may hopefully finally fulfil the prophecy made in ancient times of winning a championship with the unbeatable Lampard-Gerrard partnership... Seriously, it's weird how many times that natural, seemingly perfect duo has come unstuck, inspite of the wavelengths transmitted by them being so obviously precisely equal... still four millionth time lucky!)...
They all look very pretty in their white tops, miming or stuttering out a national anthem held as illogical by approximately 80% of the population, while around 16% of the others have different beliefs... What's worse, it's to an old hag who, deriving from a closed circle of international inbreeding morons, has no claim to English heritage, nor to being in any way superior to the bleeding average tax payer keeping her in her queenly estates, nevermind the fact she brings nowt to our economy directly (tourism is a defunct argument, as the France, the most visited country in the world, has no royal family, and the preserved sites of royalty still attract bigger viewing figures than Windsor or Feckingitup Palace)...
I just want to see good football... nothing else, no matter which country produces it... My allegiance this Euros is to enjoyment, not Capello.

I want England to win a major tourament simply because of the way it would unite the nation and everyone would just go mental for a day or two.

I'm in pretty much the same situation as JWAG, except it's my Dad who's Irish.
The vitriol towards the English amongst my Irish family is quite staggering at times, but I was raised in a very English home. The Man Utd. connection is because of George Best according to my cousins, but I'm in support of any of the home Nations unless they're playing England.

I'll say this for Ireland (having watched most of the first game and the first 25 minutes of this'n) Best will be a machine! Everything is coming to Keane and inevitably ending in nout...Best would tear this Estonia team apart!

No, you started off joking but it was shown to be a poor joke so you actually began trying to prove it as a serious point which was just embarrassing.

Alot of it isnt that we, RoI fans, have a preset desire to see England lose, that is saved for Northern Ireland :), its a desire to see the media have their traps shut about a team that, if we believed the media hype about it, is apparently the greatest thing since sliced bread. By some of the postings here it would seem that a number of england fans would agree with that sort of assessment of the media coverage of the team.

Of course the two countries have had a long history so England will always occupy a sort of pantomine villain role but in terms of REAL dislike for England would probably stem from a small section that bore witness to the friendly in 1995 and had their opinions reinforced by subsequent instances of hooliganism in tournaments that followed. The newer generation holds a much less extreme view in no small part due to the better image of england fans in more recent tournaments IMO.

I'm not excited about England being there as I expected them to qualify and I expect them to do poorly in the tournemant.

Pleased for Ireland and their fans but I would say I'm excited about them either.

Exactly, alot of the lad's I work with seem to forget that most of their players play in the English League and the irony is nearly every single one of them follows Man Utd or Liverpool!

I couldn't give a **** if the Irish want us to lose, I will still cheer them on as much as I did in 2002. They were awesome to watch in that World Cup from the Kean/McCarthy drama to the last minute goal vs Germany. Most of you lot hate Liverpool, doesn't mean I dislike Newcastle. <ok>
