Gasgoine is ill and has not consciously thrown anything back in anyone's face, whilst his actions are unsavoury they are the result of his alcoholism. I personally feel very sorry for the man and sadly fear the worst.

 

I feel desperately sorry for Gazza, as I did for George, alcoholism is a tragic waste of life. Both player made very poor choices which lead to such a waste of potential.

However alcohol only reduces inhibitions & can't be blamed for violence. Many alcohols live very peaceful lives & would never dream of hitting/strangling anyone. For his belief that its ok to act like that would need a much deeper look at his belief system

Yes your Graciousness, Gazza is a harmless soul that wouldn't harm a fly. It's all the hangers on that took advantage of him and his fame (Terry Venables included) that brought him down to what he is today.

If only Gazza's only problem was being an alcoholic. Gazza unfortunately has many inter acting problems and in reality no-one knows why he does what he does including Gazza. Sure the alcohol doesn't help but it really really isn't that simple.

 

How many chances have been afforded to the likes of Gazza, and George? How many of those chances would be offered to 'ordinary' folk?

Whether its the fault of others that have led him astray, he still allowed it to happen. There is only one person that can truly help him, and time and time again he has let himself down. You can lead a horse to water.

The bloke doesn't need rehab, He needs sectioning. He's clearly mentally ill and the substance abuse is clearly a byproduct of much deeper rooted problems. The man is a maniac without coping skills but as long as they're treating the substance abuse as the root problem, he's never ever going to get better.

Mentally unstable and I fear a lost cause. Most talented English player I've seen.

 

Very sad to see anybody like that, but to see a guy that royally entertained us in a state like that is truly terrible. Taken advantage of by hangers on and then left to his own devices when he can't help himself.
