There's an anomaly here . . . . some have mentioned Lenny Henry as a comedian, when, from what I've heard from him, he's just a racist bastard :emoticon-0148-yes:

One of those people who, if you don't 'get', it's your fault for being incapable of recognising his genius <doh>

Agree! Comedy is very subjective....it either appeals to your sense of humour,or it doesn't. People who think something is funny need to recognise that other people might not feel the same way.

Ricky Gervais and Steve Coogan haven't been mentioned yet (unless I've missed them) . . . . what's funny about them ?

Absolutely nothing is the answer, as it is regarding the attention seeking Jimmy Carr, and Frankie Boyle, both of whom like to take the mickey out of disabled people :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Others that make me switch channels are screechy bitch Carol Kirkwood, who seems to think that everything is hilarious when BBC Breakfast go to her for the weather, and Richard Madeley (ITV) who absolutely loves himself :undecided:

p.s. Bob Mortimer is absolutely mental, in a brilliant way, and his fishing series with Paul Whitehouse is fantastic . . . . two mates sharing time together and having a bloody good laugh, which is something that I'd love to do. Like Bob, I've never been fishing in my life, but I'd enjoy being guided like he has been for this series :emoticon-0148-yes:

You're right and, of course, the show has little to do with fishing ... they could just as easily be walking or boating, it's very good though and covers some serious subjects.

What I switch off are any of the popularity contests thinly disguised as 'competitions' where people jump off a diving board, make scones, cut hair or sit around talking.

If there was a baking competition at the bottom of the street not one person would walk down to see it ...

... but millions get all hysterical watching on TV.

You can't even taste the cakes ffs <doh>

High definition TVs have a lot to answer for, for these baking and masterchef type shows. Food porn!
