His stories are not convincing at all. They are obviously lies.......which often turn out to be true! The only one i can remember was a lie was the one where Chris Rea advised him to crack open an egg in his bath whilst bathing. Ive currently started watching his fishing show with Paul Whitehouse. I could watch it all day and i dont like fishing much.
The one about him doing his own dentistry as he thought how much **** that I could save a few quid! Ridiculous story about using his kids playstation gaming chair on the kitchen table to get closer, keeping his mouth open with a shoe horn and using various mirrors was absolutely ****ing ridiculous and clearly the lies of a raving lunatic that made a show like shooting stars! Erm no...all true but the raving lunatic bit still stands. Absolutely mental!
I actually love watching anything with Bob in, his fishing series is excellent, sometimes funny sometimes very sad.
Sadly, the people I laughed with most are now no longer with us. The likes of Les Dawson, Dave Allen, Ken Dodd, Bob Monkhouse, along with Morcombe and Wise, to name a few. Or from America, Mort Sahl, Jackie Mason or Bob Hope would, with their own brand of humour, got me every tme. But I'm hard pressed to think of any 'stand up' comedian currently performing who I would watch, confident that I'd be rocking with laughter. Perhaps it's an age thing, and we all prefer the type of comedy we learned to like in our maturing years. As for the title of this thread, I con not recall ever seeing or hearing Lee Mack do a stand up routine. But as a comedy actor or with his quick fire repartee, he seems TO ME, to be one of the best.
The one time I laughed at Sarah Millican was when she was describing the first time she had to use a plastic bag and pick up her dogs **** in the park. She said that she had prepared herself for the texture, the softness, but she wasnt expecting for the warmth ..........'you know the warmth? The warmth of a Greggs pastie that is just right!'
That was just her way of preparing herself to eat it...."ooh, a Greg's pastie....I'm having some of that".
Lee Evens is nothing more than a Norman Wisdom rip off. Did not get the hype around him when he was at his "peak". Billy Connolly Bill Hicks George Carlin All imo great and the founding fathers of "funny because its true" side of stand up. Bill Hicks more on the political side, and from what I've seen, the only bloke questioning the JKF assassination and incorporating the "funny because it's true" angle back in the late 80s early 90s. Michael Mac was funny when he wasn't mainstream (mid 2000s). Kevin Bridges is very funny but I put that down to the accent.By that I mean some of he's gags would only sound funny coming out of a Scottish person mouth. Where as Billy Connolly is funny full stop. His New Year's Eve story is on YouTube and some of the funniest stuff I've seen.
I like Lee Mack. Saw him years ago, and he was really good. I've not seen him do any stand up recently though. However, I don't find thast "Not Going Out" show at all funny. Of the ones I've seen in recent(ish) years, Stuart Lee was very good, and I was surprised to find Paul Cook hillarious as a live act, because he didn't make me laught when I've seen him on TV.
The first series of 'Not going out' was brilliant, before it deteriorated, but it 'made' Miranda Hart, who was also very good at first . . . .
Ah I never saud the stories were convincing. Miles from it. But he can answer any questions about them. He sounds convincing. The stories seem like utter made up drivel!!
Is that where she came from. Always thought not going out looked ****e and disliked it without even watching it. If she came from that there is even more reason to dislike it
Jo Brand, Russel Brand, Eddie Izzard, Lenny Henry, Ross Noble, Al Murray, Ruby Wax. As soon as they come on the telly I turn it off, absolutely terrible
