You are not rebuilding yet, at this point you are still jumping on the floorboards and falling through to see how many are rotten. Then you will rip them out, hitting rock bottom. Then you will start rebuilding. You are already 5 points behind Moyes after 2 fixtures. Even a loss today puts us 3 points ahead of last season after 2 fixtures.
The quality level amongst goalkeepers in general has risen significantly over the last few seasons. de Gea is part of that improvement. He's good but he's not the best. Rojo is completely untested in this league and in this side (whatever that may turn out to be). He cannot yet be awarded the accolade of being a top player. di Maria - the same applies as above. He carries a further burden because he was never on United's radar until they got desperate, United are paying a premium for a player who is desperate to leave his club (and who's club are desperate to sell him) in a window that is rapidly closing. It all smacks of too much desperation all around. Plus why do United need another winger? He may be able to play in other positions but that is not his natural/'best' position. RvP. Ah! the enigma that is RvP. Which RvP is going to turn up this season? If United get the 'every touch turns into a goal' then sure a top top player. If they get the "Boss I'm injured again", "It's not my fault they can't serve me decent chances", "Why hasn't my agent got me a deal at barca yet?" - then a complete waste of space. Herrera - nobody yet knows.
I think De Gea has had an easy ride. When Man Utd's defence was decent he got credit, now it's **** he gets let off that it's not his fault. He's good at most things but not excellent at anything. His distribution is one of his best assets but distribute to who?
Their fans my age have literally only experienced one bad season - and this will be their first without CL. f** them - let them experience what football is like for everyone else. It's a valuable part of the dance. EDIT: Would have to disagree on De Gea - he's a great keeper and still young. Great reactions and has improved his kicking a lot.
fair pretty ****ing obvious they have had decisions go their way for so long regarding officials. and as far as feeling sorry for them, jesus christ, give them the same sympathy they gave us, **** all, only thing i don't want is them going under because of the ownership bull, but as far as on the pitch goes, **** em dirty ****s!
don't think h is as good as made out, probably more to do with who he plays for lol, but i would put him in top 10 keepers in the world, not bad playing for a mid table club
It's unfortunate but true IMO. He's not 'great' in the sense that the world class keepers like Neuer or Courtois are, but he's a level or two below with the likes of Ter Stegen, Diego Lopez and so on. If he was here he'd start too.
No one in football will have any sympathy for the fans of a side who've been racking up trophies for 25 years, having to endure a fallow period and having to watch the invincibility that seemed to come with them for years, being totally lost in the space of just over a year. Just how long we all get to have a sn****r at their demise is open to debate, but many more signings of the quality of Di Maria and one would suspect that we should be making the most of it, whilst it lasts.
I would put him in the top 10 in the Prem but really have no evidence that he would make top 10 in Europe let alone world. Like you, I think he's good - just not as good as some people are claiming.
true tobes, but don't you think they are now hypocritical ****s for moaning about chelsea and city buying the league when they are trying to do the same. not worth going into, but they was fortunate their demise happened during silly money available in football, so you are right for us to make the most of it as they can buy their way out of trouble if need be. assuming their buys get them back in top 4, the longer they are not then they may experience the ****e we had to put up with.
No reason he won't be one day though... He doesn't seem to trust Smalling or Jones at the moment - improve that and his performances could improve again.
In fairness, the money they're spending is earned as opposed to gifted by benefactor owners, so it's not quite the same as what City and Chelsea did. Them staying outside the top 4 long term is unthinkable in terms of their business model, so they'll spend until they get it right imo.
I don't see how anyone can call Di Maria a desperation buy They've overpaid, but in terms of quality, there's no question they've signed a top drawer player there.
I agree with Tobes that at least Utd will be spending money they have earned to rebuild. But you still need a manager who can build a winning team. Look how much money Arsenal have, but have they won a lot recently?
6 first team players will often do that to any side. Wonder how your leeds would cope without eh?, who? Amd surely not? were out injured?
fair comments tobes do they have similar model to arsenal then in cl pays for stadium etc, but in their case debt for buying utd, so no top 4 equals ****ed the longer they are not? they are similar to us in spending money earnt, but they are way ahead of us in infrastructure and recent success etc something we are addressing, whether its too late and something that should have been done 15-20 yrs ago, time will tell, but hopefully we are getting it right again.
