    Will a lennon quote do?

For instance when I was sent the bullets in the post, you then had this “he brings it on himself” attitude in the press and that I was an aggressive type. But Paddy McCourt and Niall McGinn got bullets in the post too. So what was the real reason behind it? We know what the real reason was, we were Irish Catholics working for Celtic and playing for Northern Ireland.

And Walter...well I don't know if this is the exact figure but I'm happy to be proven wrong

    Europe

    Played: 31
    *Won: 3*
    Lost: 13
    Drawn: 15

Messi said his team played anti football lol

Nope sorry but that won't do at all. If the "Lennon brings it on himself" rhetoric was so prevalent then you shouldn't have any trouble finding an example to post on here.

Again, Smith took Rangers to a European final. His European record is pretty good.

Messi also played in a game.where Barcelona broke all European records for ball retention. A record that still.stands to this day.

    The opposition?

    Celtic.

Drawing his way to a final and being beaten in the only game he HAD to win

    Lolzy

3 wins in Europe. If that's true...with the most expensive squads in Scotland...possibly the UK at one point...is pretty good...

    <laugh>

Give whomever convinced you of that in the DR a pulitzer

An easy ride in your book. Maybe not every Celtic fan intently reads every newspaper and media outlet with a desperation to see things 'evened up' in their reporting. Maybe not every Celtic fan spends so much of their time looking across the city, beeling about perceived slights and unfair articles. Maybe not every Celtic fan is wrapped up in there being a secret, covert anti-Celtic media which prints the newspapers in this country - an argument which the less-than-intelligent section of Rangers fans also claim.

I mean, you said you didn't even watch the Cup Semi-Final, and i can't even tell if you're serious. Only a fan of conspiracies?

I'm rarely ever 'feverent' <doh> when on here to be honest, but sometimes I do get drawn in to the sad circular arguments which are popular amongst a specific demographic of our fanbase. I'm genuinely not proud of it, as I'm well aware those with the tinfoil on are a lost cause.

No, I don't deliver papers, but as a fan of the Green Brigade, seeing someone spell correctly must be mind-blowing for you. Superior education isn't being able to punctuate or spell BTW, it's probably more to do with application. If you spent more time worrying about that than conspiracy theories about the Scottish media, I daresay you'd do very well <ok>

"I wouldn't dismiss the notion that he brings it upon himself " There are ****ing thousands of examples of this, ya plank of wood!

Isn't that because the league is more competitive though? Celtic are losing Cup Semis to teams who we should be doing better against. Aberdeen are still the second best team in the country, and their resources are probably more in line with Hearts etc than they are with Celtics.

All things considered, in my opinion, Aberdeen have done well under McInnes. I get your point but i keep saying it: managing Celtic comes with more spotlight, speculations, and criticism, than managing Aberdeen, Ross County, or Livingston. I bet if you lived in Aberdeen, you would get more Aberdeen articles, but for the mainstream media - Record, Sun etc - the bulk of their readership is in the West Coast, and what sells papers? Stories, positive or negative, about Celtic and Rangers.

This press intensity comes with the territory of being the biggest club. If they wrote less, everyone would moan that Celtic were being ignored because of an anti-Celtic media bias. Same turd but with a different ribbon on it.

Post the full quote though - you're doing the age-old tactic of cherry-picking. What Spiers said was this:

Puts it in a completely different light from what you actually posted.

I agree that he has done well overall, but his team have totally capitulated (3 going on 5 against St J in the last part of the season - when they had the chance to pout real pressure on (on an under performing) Celtic.

And I agree, Celtic and Rangers are much bigger jobs and are under the spotlight and it's how the MSM sell papers.

My OP was tongue in cheek ... but he does deserve stick. The ugly hun **** that he is.

    **** off!

The narrative being established was that he brought it on himself, there are ****ing literally thousands of examples of that being suggested by the press.

I think you are at it, Jiff

No, the narrative being established was trying to give you all the facts as to why Lennon suffered (suffers) so much abuse - it's there, in writing. What part of what Spiers said is untrue? Stop posting on here with your blinkers on. I'm not denying that Lennon's nationality and religion play a part in the hate that follows him about, but in the same regard his never back down attitude and in your face approach hardly help his position either. Those are facts FFS. No manager, regardless of abuse, wanders about sticking the fingers up - Wenger got called a *****phile for years, and did he turn around to the Stretford End and stick the fingers up? No. Why not? Because it would make the abuse worse. Hardly rocket science. No one is asking you to split atoms here, just to appreciate the facts without twisting them.

It's completely ignorant to suggest otherwise. He doesn't deserve it, not in the slightest, but as long as there is a prominent anti-Catholic/Irish/Celtic hate that exists amongst an embittered part of the population, then there will always be someone ready to have a go at Lennon, particularly when he's there giving them the finger.

Now, where are these "thousands of examples"? So far, you've given one of a prominent journalist having the gall to think that most people reading that article were logical adults.

The same newspaper apologising to Lennon for the headline used. They also printed a picture of McCoist laughing when he was questioned about violence in football - you'd have been beeling if that had been done to Lennon. The DR also apologised to McCoist for that. Bad reporting and poor headlines aren't exclusive to Neil Lennon and Celtic <ok>
